While in KC early one morning, I was more or less stranded in the Plaza area searching for any breakfast option that wasn’t the overpriced and underwhelming hotel breakfast buffet. I tend to be a huge fan of places specializing in breakfast food, so Eggtc. seemed like a logical choice. Star 1: How was the service and atmosphere?Packed with a great local crowd, a handful of regulars and a friendly staff willing to chat even at 07:30 in the morning, Eggtc. gave me a truly warm welcome to Kansas City. Combine that with quick service and Eggtc. hits a home run in this department. Star Granted.Star 2: How were the portions relative to the cost?I love Breakfast Burritos. End of story. So when I saw that a Chorizo breakfast burrito was on the menu and had been recommended by a few Yelpers, I jumped at the opportunity. I’ll admit, it wasn’t as customizable as I would have liked, and the price gave me a jab in the ribs as well. $7.67 with potatoes after tax and tip? That’s high, as in, that’s high for Los Angeles and most definitely for Kansas City.I’m struggling with this one here, but I honestly just can’t give the star. Eggtc. really should consider lowering the price a bit on this one unless they can make it more customizable or quite a bit bigger.No Star Granted.Stars 3 and 4: How was the food?Eggs, Cheese, Meat, etc. wrapped in a tortilla. Breakfast Burritos are pretty simple, and are thus nearly impossible to botch. However, they’re equally difficult to really master. This chorizo breakfast burrito was pretty good, but I wouldn’t necessarily put it in the top 5. I will say that the potatoes were nice, and they should consider combining the two. Single Star Granted.Star 5: Would you eat here every day if you could?Was my breakfast burrito out of this world? No. But I really will look back on my trip to KC with a positive vibe thanks largely to the warm welcoming I received at Eggtc. With that in mind, I’m going to dish out a star here. Star Granted.
