That Great!. We hesitate to say how much we loved our dinner and experience at Grand Street; as we want to make sure that we can get in next time we are in town! The food was excellent, fun place without being too noisy, wide array of people and attentive professional service! We would drive to KC from Wichita just to eat here – it was that great.
Eat here a lot the steaks are always great, they serve the freshest salmon in town. I love the new rustic bread they serve! The Sunday brunch is awesome! Their new banquet room is very elegant!
OUTSTANDING…!!!. Yesterday was my birthday, but we never let anyone there know it…because I don’t like a fuss over it. But…our waitress treated us so well, that it felt like I was getting special attention anyway! Our brunch was very delicious! I am a great cook and I STILL can’t get my bread pudding quite up to the par with theirs! Excellent…one of my favorite places to eat…and I am very picky about that!24 Feb, 2014OUTSTANDING!!!!. Disgusting. Just had Bill’s Chicken Salad delivered to The Q Hotel. The chicken tasted really watery. The HOT mustard was honey mustard. I paid over $20 for an inedible salad. I’ll NEVER eat there again!
Great food, but bad customer service from a hostess. I called on December 6th for a New Year’s Eve dinner for 8 people at 7:00pm. I thought Grand St Cafe at the Plaza was an ideal choice, based on my past experiences with this restaurant for work and personal lunches, plus a friend’s birthday dinner. I arrived at the restaurant at 6:45pm and our party didn’t get seated until past 7:30pm. I had asked repeatedly when my party will be seated and we were told that the other group seated at the table intended for us were taking too long & the hostesses apologized for the wait. One of the hostesses started yelling from her area that they were sorry and there was nothing they can do. I didn’t want to make a scene in front of my colleagues and friends, so I ignored her yelling as she walked past my group and knocked over a specials menu sign. We were startled by her rude behavior and we agreed how this restaurant will not be on our list for the next holiday event. Overall, the food was delicious and the waiter provided better customer service, but one of the hostesses was in a bad mood and disgruntled. I’m hesitant to make another reservation at this restaurant for either a work or personal event.
After Carol Fest. We stopped in at The Grand Street after attending Tim Whitmer’s Carol Fest at the Community Christian Church across the street. The service was fast and friendly, the food was outstanding and the wine was 1/2 price. We shared the flatbread, crab cakes, prime rib tacos and a snack of deviled eggs. We loved every bite. When my wife knocked over her wine glass the server insisted on a complimentary refill.
Excellent Service, Underwhelming Food. Visited Grand Street Cafe for brunch today. After hearing about it from a few friends, I was looking forward to the experience. For starters, I was extremely impressed with our server, Adam. He went above & beyond his duties in order to accommodate members of our party who have gluten-free dietary requirements. He even (unprompted) brought out a complimentary plate of scoops of various ice-cream flavors while the rest of us were eating dessert from the buffet, so that my friend could enjoy dessert with everyone else. I would go back just for such wonderful service! What I would NOT go back for, however was the extremely mediocre food. The appetizer bar was fine, if a little uninspired. The tomatoes dressed with balsamic & the roasted veggies were good, but the hummus was dry, bland, inedible paste. I was looking forward to my eggs benedict, which looked attractive when it arrived, but I was terribly disappointed to find that the eggs were over cooked. Firm yolk in a poached egg is a crime! On top of that was a sauce that experience and NOT taste, tells me should be hollandaise sauce. This stuff was flavorless yellow drizzle. I wound up needing salt & pepper in order to make it palatable. One of my friends received burned bacon which he didn’t bother eating. The dessert buffet was equally disappointing. The chocolate cupcake was the consistency of styrofoam, the cinnamon sugar muffin was boring, the danish was as dry as cardboard & the bread pudding (which we were given to believe was their signature dessert) had a nice flavor, but rather than being moist, firm chunks of custardy bread, it was cinnamony, gloppy, runny, goo!Our wonderful server & time with friends were the only things that saved this experience for me. I will not be returning to Grand Street Cafe.
