My girlfriend and I had heard about a $10 all you can drink beer offer on Monday nights at the Moolah and when we googled it, we found an event on do314.com confirming the promotion was going on. We decided this would be a good chance to grab a quick drink and see what the theater was like to catch a movie later in the week. When we arrived we greeted the bartender and inquired about the promotion. The bartender responded by laughing at me and saying You had such a straight face, I thought you were serious for a second. Confused, we explained we were serious and we had seen it advertised online. She laughed again, said she didnt think so and said she would go ask her manager. After she left, we decided our initial interaction was so uncomfortable and off-putting and since the bar was basically empty, that this was not the vibe we were looking for. We got up to leave and on the way out we saw the bartender returning to the bar. As we left, my girlfriend made an honest suggestion with no intent to be rude, that even though we were leaving, she should still probably ask her manager if that promotion was current. This apparently set her off because as we left she followed us outside and began talking to her coworker, intentionally speaking louder so that we were in earshot Oh so they were WRONG? Because he was so sure of himself and his girlfriend had a smart ass mouth. At this point I turn around and ask what did you say? and she has the audacity to repeat it again, now to our faces, that she thought my girlfriend was a smart ass. I ask to speak to her manager and thats when I find out that the coworker who she was sharing this tirade with was in fact, the MANAGER. I asked him if he felt this is how his employees should be acting and if he intended on doing anything about it. He offered only an embarrassed, half hearted apology and told me I dont know what you want me to do here, man.The manager also informed us that the promotion we had heard about was in fact going on, but only in the bowling alley area (which we didnt know existed because we were first time customers). This entire situation could have been avoided and my girlfriend and I would have happily turned getting some drinks into going bowling and everything would have been fine, had anyone informed us of the correct information (which was not provided on do314.com).In all my life, I have never been treated so poorly by an employee at a business I was willing to spend money in and I can only laugh sitting here thinking about how quickly I would have been fired had I ever pulled a stunt like that in front of any of my employers. The Moolah Theater is located in a beautifully restored building, giving off the feeling of a classy movie theater experience. I only wish the employees representing the company gave off that same feeling. If you are going to talk behind customers backs, at least have the decency to make sure its behind their backs and not to their face, in front of a manager.
