I will stop in St. Louis again just to dine @ Small Batch! The atmosphere is the very definition of chic and trendy, wait staff were very knowledgeable and professional, the food was absolutely excellent. Finally a chef who realizes to be vegetarian doesn’t mean we want uninspired peas and carrots.

Adorable, and wonderful vegetarian food, need I say more? Small Batch is one of the few restaurants that realizes the value of creative and tasty vegetarian food. I will definitely eat there again!

My fiance came here with other people and then dragged me here a couple months later because he couldn’t stop thinking about a particular pasta dish. He loves meat so I was rather surprised that he wanted vegetarian.Since then we’ve been 3 times and I haven’t been too disappointed yet.His favorite pasta is the mushroom one with cajun cream sauce. The asparagus is cooked to perfection in it. It’s a bit spicy for my taste, but still delicious. The carbonara was one of my favorites. I’m not technically supposed to be eating pasta right now but it was so flavorful that I literally couldn’t stop.It doesn’t help that the portion sizes are huge for the pastas! The poutine is the best I’ve ever had. I’ve had poutine in both Montreal and Toronto but I never liked it as much as I have here. The chopped green onions over the top are so fresh and add so much to it. The fries are perfectly crispy with the best cheese on top. I don’t care much for fries but I could eat these a lot.One of the times I went for dinner, I tried the avocado tacos but the soft tacos weren’t soft. They were cooked a bit too much and were too chewy and hard to eat. So i picked out the insides and essentially ate an avocado salad. They would have been great otherwise. My friend ordered a risotto that night that was simply divine. The cocktails and whiskey list are fun to go through too.I like that you don’t feel like it’s a vegetarian restaurant and I love the way they’ve decorated the space. It’s a great option for a date night or just catching up with friends! I will be back.

To be fair the food was spectacular but it was seriously overshadowed by the HORRIBLE service. We arrived at 1130 and did not get served until 12:45. Then we did not finalize the event until 1:30 and the Checks were WRONG so we had to wait for the adjustment. Bottom line is go for the food but plan a 2 plus hour stay. I sure hope they improve.

Outstanding. If you are in Midtown STL, and you are a true fan of whiskey, this is the place to visit. The selection is phenomenal, and the employees are very knowledgeable, which is what you want when talking Whiskey. Menu is complimented by a nice selection of Wine and Beer, for those who refuse to step over to the refined palate side! Establishment has a very nostalgic appearance, and speak easy feel to it. I’ll definitely be returning!!! Great Job, Small Batch!!!!!!!

Worth the Trip, Loved It. I have been following this restaurant for months, waiting for it to open and at our first opportunity, we headed out to it. A restaurant dedicated to vegetarian fare was and is really exciting news in St. Louis where choices tend to be slim if you don’t eat meat. The food was really very good and incredibly varied. It’s worth mentioning that one of our appetizers was technically too sweet. The Gougere was too heavy on fruit compote and way too light on a sharp cheddar cheese taste. However, out of everything we ordered that was the only thing that was a little lacking. We had three appetizers: the mushroom egg rolls (fabulous!) the pickles (very good indeed) and the Gougere (needs tweaking, I think). My husband ordered the Pho for an entree it was so incredibly good. It was not lacking any depth of flavor at all. The broth could win an award. The lemongrass was present, but not overwhelming . The wontons were stuffed with mushrooms and again, fantastic. I had the smoked mushroom Carbonara and found it to be wonderful. Plenty of mushrooms, a generous use of some great parmesan cheese and the pasta was nicely done. Nice smoked taste, but not overdone. For dessert I had the vegan ice cream that featured the same fruit compote that was on the Gougere (which I admit was sort of an amusing thing to encounter) , but it was so good. Vegan ice creams can be iffy, feeling sort of fuzzy to the tongue. Not so with this. You can taste the coconut milk in the most pleasant way possible. My husband had the whiskey bread pudding and it was fantastic. It would have been the star of the night, except for that all of the other food was so darned good. Neither of us were drinking the many and varied whiskey cocktails, but the bar is an incredibly fun sight from overhead. Tons of energy, clearly people were enjoying the drinks too. I had wine with dinner, but due to the drive my husband wasn’t drinking at all. I’m pleased to say the waitstaff was very knowledgeable about the menu and also the wines available. I can’t compliment the service enough, our server was very attentive and pleasant. Actually the staff there deserves high marks all around, from the host, to the servers, to the bartenders with a bit of a flair for showmanship. It was all so fun. It is a new place, so there were a couple of kinks with the kitchen. Only one worth mentioning. The bread pudding takes a bit to come up and apparently the ticket went in at the same time as the ice cream. My ice cream was a bit too melted in the strictest sense, by the time it came out. However, it was so delicious, I didn’t mind at all. We will back and probably quite frequently, despite the drive. It’s a rare find and it was slammed by the time we left, so it is clearly experiencing a lot of popularity. Your favorite meat eater will have plenty of foods to distract from the lack of meat on the menu (I’m assuming), but this place is a vegetarian and even vegan paradise. I’m assuming a whiskey drinker would be in heaven, but we went for the food!
