Overcharged with Groupon. Be careful if you try to use a groupon for the free bowl and drink. We went tonight and they charged us $36. We asked if that included the groupon and the girl said yes. Mind you, we had already paid $18 for the groupon. You don’t get a receipt, so afterwards I added up our bill and it didn’t add up…..chicken bowl (10.95), shrimp bowl (11.95) kids meal (4.95) and smoothie (4.25). We went back to question it and another girl said they hadn’t applied our groupon, that we should have only paid $23. After standing there a few minutes she looks at us and says she ‘refunded’ our credit card, problem being that we paid cash. Then a guy comes over and says they owe us $8 and the girl gives my mom $8. The guy says the bowls are only $8, not sure where he got that figure from, nothing on the menu is even $8. Last time I checked ….36-23=13, not 8. Needless to say, we won’t be wasting our time, or extra money, going back to use the other groupon. Food okay, but definitely not worth the money, and overcharged prices. And they don’t have much common sense either.
It’s Paleo!. I’ve been dying to try this place for about a year because I’m paleo! And I have to say I thought it was a pretty cool place!I got the pork – I was very happy to hear that it isn’t prepared/seasoned with any soy. I loaded the rest of the bowl with broccoli, carrots, red bell peppers, onion and cabbage on top of a bed of sweet potatoes. I topped it all off with the Green Chile sauce. I have to agree with some other reviews I read that they don’t give you a huge serving of the protein. But I’m not sure I’d pay to add more because the bowl of food is so huge and very filling. I know I wouldn’t get carrots in my bowl again because they aren’t cooked long enough to soften, and that’s how I personally prefer them. I liked the Green Chile sauce – it was a little sweet and a little garlic-y. I’d probably get it again.
Decent food.. Seating space is tight and it seemed a little run down but the food is good and the portions are large. I would go back if I had another Groupon.
Just ok. I got a bowl of tofu with green curry, veggies, and udon noodles and I wasn’t terribly impressed. The curry was very watery and didn’t have much flavor at all. The veggies were good, but the noodles didn’t seem very high quality, and for the price, I expected better. Ordering was confusing at first, and when I walked up the register, the girl at the counter just stared at me instead of asking if I needed help. She didn’t even say hello.I really want to like this place, but I don’t think I’ll be going back.
Food is just okay and a bit expensive. They could really use some fresh herbs and more spice to make their hotpots more flavorful. Ordering a hotpot is a little confusing as there is no set menu and lots of options. Ingredients do seem to be high quality.
Awesome concept executed well. HotPot Smoothie Shop offers nothing but healthy eats and drinks, and they’re all delicious. Take your pick of bowls of veggie goodness or tofu delight (which I’ve had the two times I’ve been) and an array of tasty smoothie options. I love how you can totally customize the bowls from broth to protein to fixins. And there’s always fun stuff to look at and read, which sounds silly, but it made me like the place more.
