Fast delivery of ok food. Fast delivery, ok food. I get the Mongolian beef extra spicy, nice slices of beef and good flavor. Don’t go to the restaurant it is a real dive.
World Traveler. My husband and I are very well traveled and even when home we eat out a lot. We eat at Hunan at least twice per month and I think for a neighborhood Chinese Restaurant they are excellent. I try to watch what I eat so I avoid the greasy stuff and they always have brown rice and steamed dishes if you want. We love their house special dishes and they will make them up any way you want. We find the staff to be very accomodating and Ping the owner is a very hard working business man and restauranteur. He does try hard to take care of everyone. Occasionally there may be a little language issue with a new person but in the 15 years we have been eating there we have nevre had a bad meal or really bad service and most of the time it is excellent.
Food ok/ awful service. Their staff has made it blaitantly clear, many times over, that they dont care for their customers. they dont say hi, thank you, ANYTHING. i understand cultural boundaries are sometimes an issue but this restaurant gives no attention to the guest who provide their income. the food is ok. better than most actually, but also pricey. i refuse to give them another penny.
Kevin. I’ve been dining at Hunan Star for the past 10 years. The food is wonderful. The staff exceptionally friendly. I’m a Chinese food nut and this place is great. Cheers to Ping, Susan, Tom and the rest.
Frequent customer. Love this place! For years I worked in the Des Peres area and this was where I ate lunch much of that time. The food is outstanding and very reasonably priced. I got to know the owners during those years and they are very nice people who still greet me during my less frequent visits.The food is consistently good, the menu has a lot of variety and I love the lunch special that includes soup and either crab rangoon or an egg roll. As for those who have complained about the service, my experience has been that it’s usually good, but like any other restaurant, occasionally it’s slow. In my opinion, you can’t beat the quality of food for such a reasonable price.
Excellent Restaurant. My wife and I discovered this place a few years ago and it remains our favorite Chinese restaurant in town. We probably eat there about 8-10 times a year and the food is consistently good.
