5th time we have been to the Tavern & never been disappointed, had the Cajen pre with shrimp which was excellent – great spice & a little kick. Keep up the great work a great place in West County.
Make sure you confirm with your waiter what you order-but later fixed. First, the food was very good. Problem was we ordered a JH trio and Shrimp plank. Got the JH Trio and a seafood plank. They switched it ok but that was the first mistake. We also ordered a $44 bottle of Chardonnay but when we received the bill, we were charged for a $64 bottle of Chardonnay. My wife and I both knew we pointed to the $44 bottle when we ordered. Instead of fixing the wine error, the manager Alex, gave us a coupon for a free appetizer and a $10 gift card. I’m sorry, but a high end restaurant should be more helpful than that. I would recommend that if you go to this restaurant, you write down what you order and place it on your table so they get it right. We’ve been to Niche in Clayton, Tony’s downtown, and Gerard’s in DesPeres recently and never experienced mistakes like this. Again, good food, not great communication with the wait staff, manager. Postscript: Alex was very gracious in his response to my comments and made up for the mistakes we encountered. Again, no complaints on the food, hopefully just a hiccup in getting our order correct.
Seemed pretty over hyped. Best part of dinner was the rib appetizer that we added at the last minute. I ordered Cajun style tiger shrimp. The gumbo overpowered the dish and wasn’t even good. Nothing redeeming on the plate. I could only get 3 shrimp down, going to try to rinse them and mix them with pasta sauce to salvage the leftovers. My husband got the filet trio, all extremely undercooked and just with unpleasant flavors. The jalapeo scalloped potato side was good. We won’t go again.
Gkovash. Food and service was excellent. However, for the money spent I did not enjoy the table with the view of the parking lot.
One of my favorite places in St. Louis! Amazing food, great variety on the menu, and fantastic service! I would highly recommend this restaurant!
