Awesome food and service. I was immediately welcomed by the service of the hotel employees prior to making our way to the banquet. The food was incredible and the dessert selection left it hard to choose. I attended this banquet for a friends anniversary party, but now I want to come back and try the food at 400 Olive.

Fantastic. First off. I took advantage of FREE valet parking downtown which is not all that common anymore. Me and my girlfriend were seated right away by a very welcoming hostess. The dining room is in the lobby of the hotel which we did not mind because there were some more private tables in the back away from all the lobby traffic. I had the Filet and she had the salmon. Both were cooked very well. They have a great wine list BTW…. The decor of the dining room is a bit dated but it fits in with the historic charm of the Hotel.. Be sure to check out the original bank vault doors, they are pretty amazing. I would recommend this to a friend looking for a very personal dining experience.

Terrible! I was visiting St. Louis and was looking for someplace to eat near my hotel, unfortunately I chose 400 Olive. The service was mediocre at best. Our waitress never once checked on us after we got our meals, walked away from our table when we didn’t immediately give our drink choices and was overall a poor server. The food was bland. I got the shrimp appetizer and the shrimp were overcooked and over seasoned. You could barely taste the shrimp because the spice was so overwhelming. I also had the 400 Olive salad. The lettuce was wilted and the proscuitto was dry. My table mate sent back her salad and toasted (actually fried and not hot) ravioli because it was so bad and didn’t eat at all. The others in our group had mediocre food as well. I wouldn’t recommend it to anyone nor will I go the next time I’m in town.

Mediocre food, good wine list & dessert. After seeing the glowing soundbites online (St. Louis’s best new restaurant! most romantic restaurant in the city! etc.), I expected to not want to leave half my food on the plate. Alas, I, who never leave a meal unfinished, did leave half my food because it was just so . . . uninspiring. The signature salad, mixed greens with figs, prosciutto, and blue cheese, might have been delicious with fresh ingredients, but the dried up fig and wilted greens were anything but fresh. The eggplant lasagna was bland and heavy, although the accompanying grilled asparagus were delicious. The complimentary bread basket featured characterless bread and a cloying compound butter. On the plus side, the wine list was impressive and dessert (I had carrot cake) was innovative and delicious. How anyone would consider the ambiance romantic is beyond me. The carpet and tablecloths are worn, the lighting bad, the service similar to what you’d expect at Denny’s.

We checked into the Hotel around 8 and didn’t want to take the car back out and try to find a place, so we decided to eat here. Great service, more than ample portions, nice setting in the former bank lobby, however, the food was just not good. That’s what I get for being lazy.

Very Impressed!. I too read the reviews and hesitated, but my experience was wonderful! Free parking which can be hard to find downtown, charming hostess, attentive staff all around. The portions are generous, the food is excellent and the restaurant is charming inside of a beautiful lobby. I had the chowder and was impressed, my friend had an onion soup and both were great, as the server stated can’t go wrong picking which soup to have. We will be back and bring more people to enjoy.

Good Service, Great Food !!!. I bought a Groupon for 400 Olive yesterday and did not wait to use it. Me and my boyfriend went there for a dinner last night. It was way better than I exacted. When I was deciding whether I should by a Groupon or not I went through a lot of their reviews; a lot them were positive, but there were some bad ones as well. I hesitated for a minute, but decided to do it and just see what happens. SO, IT WAS GOOD! Our food was very tasty, service was good, romantic ambiance, free parking downtown…. But the best and the sweetest part was their WARM BREAD PUDDING! YUM! you have to try it!!!Thank you 400 Olive team! We will recommend you! [email protected]
