Really quaint and historic bistro. Had biscuit & gravy with buffalo sausage crumbles – very good. Family had the morning after, potato bowl, and fancy cakes. GREAT. Highly recommend.
I had dinner here during KC Restaurant Week, and my boyfriend and I both ordered from the special restaurant week menu. Our appetizers, a salad and a vegetable soup, were both very bland. He ordered the salmon and said that it was decent. I had a vegetarian creole dish that was completely overpowered by black pepper. The rice was burnt, and overall it was a disappointment. Desserts were easily the best part of the meal. Would neither return nor recommend.
The food was great except the eggs on my salmon Benedict were completely hardboiled and my $3.50 coffee was coffee flavored water….so terrible. Otherwise great atmosphere, quick (albeit lackluster service) and decently prices (minus the coffee).
Quaint atmosphere, quality ingredients, good drinks made for an enjoyable brunch. The egg dish could use a bit more zest. My wife loved the French toast, said it was better than You Say Tomato’s.
Wonderfulness.. My favorite restaurant. Period. Charming atmosphere, witty and personable staff. The staff seems to really care about your business and making the guest have the best experience possible. Dinner items can be expensive, but there are items of a more moderate price and you really do get what you pay for. The food is delicious and local. I cannot say enough good things about this restaurant. I’m a regular for as long as I can be. It really doesn’t get much better than Blue Bird.
Kitchen issue?. It took over an hour for our lunch order. Our waitress was very nice, and seemed embarrassed. My bison burger was very over cooked and charred on the outside. The side of chips was ok. The made in house catsup was very good. Our bill was adjusted to make up for the extreme wait and poor quality burger. My wifes black bean burger was good.
