Sumptuous Seafood AwaitsOur recent trip to Kansas City had us being wined and dined by our hosts. The first night was down in the Power & Light District at Bristol Seafood Grill. Lets just say Executive Chef Travis Napier, pulls it all together with a sumptuous seafood selection. Our table dined on Blue Point Oysters, Seared Sea Scallops, Roasted Duck Flatbread & Shellfish Bouillabaisse. The place was humming, the staff ever so friendly and the food simply mouth-watering. In the mood for seafood, make a b-line for this hot, cool dining venue.
The Good: The lobster bisque was amazing. Their specialty drink was presented beautifully. The ambience was very pretty. Service was attentive with everyone except our main server. When they had made a mistake with our reservation they very quickly corrected it and got us a table. The Bad:Primary server was very slow and a bit rude. She brought the wrong specialty drink and when I pointed it out politely she argued with me. She brought lemon. I ordered cranberry. She was sure the cranberry was infused in the back. When I pointed out my drink had limes not lemon she again argued with me but agreed to check. I read the description right off the menu. Sure enough to no surprise I had the wrong drink. This took over thirty minutes to get corrected. My steak while cooked a perfect medium was served warm along with everything else. The steak and the scallops lacked any flavor at all. It was a good cut of beef but I do like a well seasoned meal and this was just bland. I tasted one of my dining companions pretzel coated trout and again cool and bland. Given the price point of this place the food should be top notch. It was really unremarkable as a whole. If the pricing were about half what it is I would say go, but there are much better fine dining establishments in KC to go to. Additionally while the ambience was very pretty with dim lighting and a beautiful fireplace it was very noisy. We were tucked away in a corner and still had to talk loudly to hear each other. Id return for a drink in the bar but not likely to be back for dinner.
