I live in the Washington Avenue Loft District. I have been to Lucas Park Grille many times. The food is decent enough, a little overpriced. During a party they were having, they told my friend Zack he was not allowed to enter because he was underdressed. When two guys walked out with wife beaters, cargo shorts, and flip flops, the doorman told us Zack had a ‘bad attitude.’ Zack hadn’t even said anything. Then the doorman told us ‘we were never coming in and to leave.’ I think it is because Zack is a black man. I will never patronize this establishment again.

Great Anniversary Dinner. My fiance and I had a lovely dinner at Lucas Park Grille on 1/25/2014 to celebrate our anniversary. The service was simply excellent. We had booked a 7:15pm reservation online, and by the time I parked the car around the corner, our table was ready and we were seated immediately just after 7:00. We were greeted by our server about a minute after taking our seats and getting comfortable and offered drink and dinner menus. I had a Buffalo Trace Manhattan (okay, I had two) which was excellent, while she had a glass of red wine. We ordered the house chips with blue cheese sauce and a ceasar salad to start. Both were excellent. The salad had kale instead of romaine, which was actually very interesting and gave it a different, spicy flavor. The house chips are simply outstanding. My only regret is that there wasn’t anything left to soak up all of the delectable blue cheese sauce after the chips were gone. Spend 5 bucks and get the chips. You won’t be upset. My fiance ordered the chicken, which she said was excellent, especially the sauce. I ordered the ribeye, prepared medium-rare. Now, I have eaten a lot of steaks at a lot of steak houses, and this steak was among the best I have ever had. It was perfectly seasoned and had a wonderful balance of meat and fat. Importantly, it was cooked to perfection. The center was warm and a deep, dark red color. Absolutely textbook medium rare. The fries that came with aeoli were great, although I would have liked an option to get mashed potatoes or a veggie instead. I suspect had I asked, they would have been glad to oblige. Overall, the experience was great. The only caveat was that the music was a little to poppy for a nice dinner setting. For two people, two apps, two entrees, and three drinks, our bill came to right around $115 (after 20% tip). If you buy a $25 restuarant.com gift certificate like we did, LPG is a steal for a fancy night out. Overall, Lucas Park Grille gets a 10/10. We will be back

Come for the food, stay for the drinks. Originally started patronizing Lucas Park just as a bar to drink at.Then we had dinner here one night- totally changed my perspective. The crab cake was delicious, the pasta well thought out with a nice variety in texture and flavor in each bite. Even the cesear salad is good. A fair warning, service can be spotty and it is expensive. But take the risk… once you get the food it’s worth it.
