It’s a very tiny sub stop. Tables always fill up quickly during the lunch rush. Lots of people like this place, but I don’t see the appeal. The sandwiches are a few pieces of store bought style lunch meat on a pretty boring bread roll which has been toasted. There is barely any meat on the sandwiches and I have yet to receive the correct order when I go with someone else. It’s definitely not anywhere close to a decent price for what you get and the ambiance is pretty shabby. It also gets very noisy with the sandwich people yelling out looking for who the sandwich should go to. One unique thing is they use playing cards as order slips to identify who gets what when the food comes out of the kitchen (neat, but still can’t get order correct).Bottom line, pass unless you want a sandwich like you could make at home, only without getting any real meat.
Pretty good subs especially when you want a sandwich but not subway.
Pretty Good – not the same from KC though. I went to college in KC, and Planet Sub was in my weekly rotation for lunch or a quick dinner. Tasty, toasted subs truly are better because they are baked. When I moved to STL, one of the very first things that saddened me was the lack of Planet Sub. Fast-Forward two years, and now there are 3 Planet Subs surrounding me in STL and you’d think I’d go there all the time. After all, they have retained their tasty ingredients, toasty bread, and massive menu. What changed? The size of the bread. I can’t cite this for sure, but it seems that the subs have gotten smaller. No longer 7-8inches long, and stuffed to the brim – the subs at Planet Sub just don’t pack the wallop they used to, but the price has remained the same. Would I still recommend Planet Sub? If you’ve never had them before, sure. They are still the tastiest sub I’ve ever had. But personally, I’ve lost that loving feeling.
