The Hereford House is a competent meal served well, at a reasonable price. Bring your older out of town guests here if the price of Plaza III is too much for their sensibilities. One nice option they offer groups (ours was 10) was a private room with a door that closes. It allows for a more personal experience without having other diners’ conversations get in the way. The jalapeo pesto butter is amazing and I may have to try to make it at home. If you want a world class dining experience, there are better choices. But this will do the trick to deliver quality above the national chains, unless you need a fancifully cut deep fried whole onion.
Best steakhouse in independence. I love the simplicity of it, they don’t have to enhance the food with flashy techniques of some other upscale places. Although, they do offer some tasty enhancements for your dishes if you are feeling adventurous, And for being a steakhouse, the prices are reasonable. The quality of food you are getting is better then certain chains I’ll not name, so complaining about the prices seems silly. Going to steakhouses usually are a little more expensive. I have eaten here many times and never been disappointed. They know what they are doing, after all they do it for a living and the people complaining, don’t. 🙂 I recommend the salmon if you don’t do steak, and the ribeye or prime rib if you like steak. Mashed potatoes, baked potato and cheddar ranch potatoes all wonderful. Try the stuffed mushrooms, calamari, or the sea hogs for an appetizer! The carrot cake, creme brle, and peach cobbler are homemade and delicious as well.
Terrible service, terrible food, bad drink, and attitude (I’m a traveler and tolerant, and this was bad) from the server made it even worse. Go anywhere else you are better off.
Came in late on Monday and ate at the bar. They have a ‘happy hour after 8:30 pm’ menu. I had the 8 oz strip, my son had a burger. Both were great. Service was a little slow as the bartenders were doing a crowd but I’d eat here again anytime.
Wow – things have slipped!. I took my family to this restaurant last night. I used to frequent the Overland Park location, and it was excellent. I figured this would be the same. First, a rundown on the food:1. Salad: A couple of iceberg lettuce leaves sloppily thrown on a plate with cheap store bought croutons…that was the GOOD part! The dressing (Blue Cheese) had no Blue Cheese in it. It tasted like it was bought at Aldi, and had a weird, almost chickeny, stale celery seed, finish. I’m serious guys and gals. It was that bad.2. Bread and Butter: Not bad. It was warm, somewhat fresh, and tasty. this is a good thing. 3. Steak: Ugh! This was seriously the worst steak I’ve ever had, and I spent over a decade in the Army! I ordered it rare. It came properly cooked, with a cool red center, and a nice char on the outside. It was, however, bland, lifeless, and maybe even synthetic tasting. It was like how Jeff Goldbloom described a steak, after transformation, in the movie The Fly. I took two bites, and left the rest for my dogs. 4. Fries: the french fries were good. The ketchup made them, at least, palatable. The service was pretentious, given the crowd and location. The servers were snooty, but helpful. I will never eat at Hereford House again. The steak at Golden Corral is MUCH better, and that’s saying something! There was not enough salt in the sea to make this steak edible. I’m not sure I’ll even feed it to my poor dogs.
Went with my girlfriend, nice setting and had a nice meal. Had problems with the groupon that I wanted to use, the manager was very helpful in fixing that. Had a great experience, however I was not 100% impressed with my steak. For a steak restaurant, it should have been a better meal. Will I go back? Most likely, not anytime soon though and I know I won’t be ordering the steak. Girlfriend had the Chicken Marsala which was actually very good. Give that a try if you visit.
