Not what I am used to as far as a Japanese steakhouse. The steak was a little over cooked and the scallops as well. The show was not that special. The…

Top notch sushi bar. Try the wasabi roe.
WORST SERVICE EVER!!. When my fiance, his buddy, our daughter, and I decided to eat here which we do often we did not expect anything to go wrong. We always order the same thing when we come in. when we got the food they added avocado to the jalapeno roll which is how we order that roll for me but my fiance does not like avocado. We asked them for the right roll she said she was sorry and went about. We could barely get our drinks filled. Granted they were busy but when I asked about his roll 3 times she responded it was coming. My fiance was furious. The rest of us had finished eating, we paid, and waited even longer. The boss walked by numerous times and said not a word to us. So 45 minutes of waiting we left without a word. Most of the people maybe even all know us there and we were treated like we didn’t matter so hopefully it doesn’t matter that we don’t come back.
It’s a little pricey but this place turned me into a sushi lover. Mmmmm
Best sushi around but the service and the guys at the front desk are very rude and will not take any to go orders which is complete crap
Worst teppanyaki in KC. The dressing on the salads is watered mayonnaise. The soup is chicken broth with spaghetti noodles (yes, noodles), the fried rice isn’t cooked all the way so its hard, the chicken is filled with gristle, the shrimp and scallops are gummy, and the hot mustard is actually yellow gravy. So if you like paying $20+ a plate for any of the above, check them out!
Never Been Disappointed. The sushi and teppanyaki meals are always great! The price is what I would expect for this type of restaurant and I’ve always had great experiences with the wait staff. The Independence Kobe is family owned and operated and not part of the Kobe chain.
Sushi is awesome, and reasonably priced compared to most placed in Kansas city
