Stopped in for a late lunch on a Saturday spurred by the information that fried green tomatoes were on the menu. Our server, Heather, offered water and the daily special and soup de jour then left us to review the menu. Lunch options are plentiful and varied. We ordered the green tomato starter, a house salad and the Cuban. All were fresh and tasty. The fried green tomatoes were accompanied by a tomato relish and crisp chopped bacon which were delicious. The breeding was crisp without any sogginess or taste of grease. The Cuban had crispy pork belly and homemade pickles. (They should be selling those pickles!) Our only negative was seasonal risotto. We were told it was mushroom but could not taste mushroom at all. Still, it was good. Looking forward to returning.
This place is a gem on the square in Independence. It’s a smaller restaurant but has a decent size menu with filling portions of food. Our server was very friendly and attentive, the manager seemed a little snooty though. That was the only downside so I left pleased with the experience.
