The atmosphere was casual. The food was served family style. As for the food I had the fried chicken. All of the food had a very homemade flavor set that took me straight back to my mom cooking thanksgiving dinners. You can also ask for seconds on any of the food including the entree!
Best Fried Chicken… EVER!. I am serious and often critical regarding dining out and fried chicken. I can tell you as a 60 year old who has to have fried chicken at least once a week that this evening I discovered what many have known for years – – the best tasting fried chicken EVER is at Nick’s Family Restaurant in Jefferson City, Missouri! Not bland and not spicy and not heavily seasoned, but absolutely tasty, flavorful and magnificently delicious. I am a retired Air Force Chaplain and I have been many places in the states and overseas and to my happy surprise – – the best fried chicken ANYWHERE is at Nicks! Family style sides of green beans, mashed potatoes and chicken gravy, Cole slaw and Apple sauce compliment this heaven sent chicken. Lastly, they serve a generous dish of ice cream to top off your fried chicken dining experience. Customers are happy and laughing and their conversation is only interrupted now and then by friendly and helpful waitresses! Absolutely love and recommend this restaurant.
No Thanks. I ordered the chicken fried steak. My meal was served and I the meat looked like the pre-frozen variety. No big deal. So I started eating it and noticed that they had served me pork tenderloin instead. So I ate it anyway, again no big deal. Then I mentioned the mistake to the waitress who served it to me, and her reaction was kind of snotty. Forget about it.
Special Friday hours. Please note that nick’s is closed from the end of lunch at 2 p.m. until they start dinner at 4 p.m.also note that their breakfast sandwiches are served open-face with egg and meat on both pieces of bread, therefore one sandwich is substantial more than what you would get elsewhere
I’ve eaten here 4 times always as part of a large group. Some how I have always been one of the last the dishes get past to and it’s all but gone. I now hate eating here cuz I know I’m going to leave hungry 🙁 I think if you go as a party of 2-4 you’re ok but eat a snack if you’re going as part of a large group.
Great catfish dinner. I had the catfish dinner, the fish was very well cooked and not greasy at all. The potatoes and gravy are also awesome.
