Best pizza in Joplin. So I’ve never tried blackthorn, went there today and I was blown away! A+ the bartender was more then nice, the cook got our pizza out really fast. The cook came up and made great small talk, told a funny joke made sure everything was above par. A great selection of beers, all around great time!
If you are not happy with your food don’t expect much of a refund. I have been to Blackthorns several times, but when I took my daughter and boyfriend there two months ago to eat I got treated like scum. I ordered a pizza, which was great, but whenever I told them that the nachos were below par (Taco Bell has better nachos) they gladly took the nachos back along with a noticeable attitude. As I was eating my pizza the cook not once, but twice tried to take the pizza before I finished. I could not believe the way I was treated since I had been there so many times before and never complained. After I finished eating I went to pay and I noticed the bill was higher than it should have been, so I asked the waitress if she took the cost of the nachos off the order. She proceeded to tell me that we had eaten half the nachos, so she only gave me a twenty percent discount. I should have kept the crappy nachos. I work in a tipping industry myself and always tip good. I planned on giving her a five dollar tip on top of the two I already gave her, but because I was treated so badly I told her that because they treated me like a scohndrel I refused to tip her another dime. I used to love it there, but I will never set foot in there again.
Could be great, but failed miserably…. I attended a show that some friends of mine were playing and at first was having a great time. I purchased drinks and had no issues with service. The pizza is good and there’s a good drink selection. I was also introduced to the owner Roger and he seemed nice. However, once he became intoxicated he was so concerned with ushering people out the door so that he could go into the back room with some drunk female stragglers that he began insulting the patrons still inside at 2:00am. As we were waiting for our friends to pack up their gear, he began yelling at us and insulting us. I’m not sure if he was so drunk that he didn’t remember who we were or if he just didn’t care about professionalism anymore. It’s a shame…this place had real potential. I refuse to support a business with an inept owner.
Best Beer Selection in Joplin. Blackthorn has great pizza! Not the best in Joplin, by my tastes, but still very good. However, it’s what you can do while eating your pizza that makes the place so great!They have a WALL of beer taps, leaning toward the craft beers. In fact, many small-run beers can only be found on tap here! If you’re looking for Bud/Miller/Coors beer, you’ll have to settle for a bottle–they don’t waste taps on that crap!!!In addition to the great beer selection, they have a parade of bands play on their cozy stage, and the staff are delightful!Despite reviews to the contrary, it is a NON-smoking establishment, since 2012. Go check ’em out!
No smoking = Happy customers. They now have a ton of new beers on tap, and I mean an entire wall of taps. They place is non smoking now, so it is enjoyable to be there. The pizza is still top notch as always. Last had a spicy blu cheese and chicken pizza. That was on delicious pizza.

I dig it.. The food is great and pretty reasonably priced. The only criticism I have is that the drink prices could be a little cheaper. The staff is friendly and the atmosphere is relaxed.
