Monday night, not busy. 1 hr wait for food after ordered, no apology even till 45 min in. Had to ask for lemon for water twice. When food finally came were informed out of carrots, would be another 20-30 min if we wanted to wait. Food was lukewarm and mediocre. Had to track down server to ask for the bill and still waited another 10min. Wont be back to this location again.
On several levels this restaurant works. Large menu, affordable, comfortable place for children and a wide range of diners. Downside is what I call the Applebees-dirty-dishrag smell (I don’t understand why Applebees wherever I travel invariably tends to this) and at times poor waitstaff, though some of the friendliest folks that will ever serve you. Western burger (ordered as close to Med as possible) fairly good flavor, but way WELL and very dry. Ceasar very good. Chicken fried steak, gr beans, marsh tatoes, TX toast, & grave…. Toast dry & quickly pitched. Pot & beans good. Ch fry not so much… Very thin (16th of in) encased in way too much heavy batter. Crispy outside and like uncooked bread dough next to the thin slice of beef. Gravy city good, country fair. Joplin had no open table options…
