Love on a Plate. Without a doubt the best home cooked food you will find in Joplin or Springfield, let’s just say Southwest Missouri ! Food for your Soul, prepared from the heart.

I’m a Southern Belle and the food is perfect!!!. I grew up in the South, so I know good southern homemade cookin’. Me’s Place ranks at the top of my list for one of the best places to eat. The catfish was absolutely wonderful, cabbage, macaroni & cheese were also great. The employee’s are so nice and we never had to wait for refills on our tea. I want to go back and try the chicken & dumplings. I have also heard the smoothered pork chops are delicious.

Don’t miss this delicious experience!!. The outside of the restaurant is rather humble, and while it isn’t located on one of the main streets, you definitely want to check out ME’s. The service is great and the food is out-of-this-world fantastic! You are in for a real treat! I have too many favorites to pick just one.

Soul Food to Die For!. I love this place! Doesn’t look like much on the outside, but the inside is beautifully decorated with local artwork and has a very homey feel. The service is great, like walking into your grandma’s kitchen. My workplace ordered meals to go for 7 people. Everything was correct including the various sides and special requests. They were out of spicy beans, but the brown beans were nicely seasoned. The ham ‘n beans had more ham than beans, which is great if you like it that way. The mac ‘n cheese is the best ever, the sweet potatoes are deliciously sweet and the buttered cabbage was also great…this coming from someone who does not care for vegetables. I didn’t try the Country Ribs, but the fried chicken is the best I’ve ever had! It LOOKED a little over-cooked, but the taste was perfect. I suspect the slightly higher temperature is how they make it as moist as it is.The portions at lunch were smaller than expected, but everything was very filling so it was really the perfect amount. I think we’re just used to cheap fast food portions. 🙂 I went back for dinner a week later and got enough to feed two of me or one very hungry me. The second time, I tried the okra, which I wasn’t crazy about but only because I don’t for okra that much. Overall, everything was very flavor-full and cooked perfectly.

Outstanding little hole in the wall. Had some fall off the bone baked chicken, greens, blackeyed peas and mashed sweet potatoes and I’d likely order the exact thing next time.

Our New ‘Favorite Spot’!. We had driven by ‘Me’s’ a few times meaning to try it out, but it wasn’t until we read the great review that ‘Me’s’ received in the Joplin Globe, that we finally decided to give it a whirl for lunch. When you walk through the door, you are instantly charmed by the local art work and warm and cozy decor. But when you are greeted heartily by a smiling, friendly and feisty Naomi, you just KNOW you are in for a wonderful experience! The brown beans were perfectly seasoned, the ribs were tender, sweet and plentiful, and the cornbread was a work of art. I’ve never had better, and I’ve eaten cornbread just about everywhere. The fried okra was crisp, tender, flavorful, not overly breaded, and my friends who enjoyed the chicken wings and mac and cheese said they were delicious as well. The tea (both sweet and unsweetened) was the real deal, and wait until you taste the peach cobbler and gooey butter cake! not only have we already been back (the very next day!) We are planning a family style dinner for a much larger group in a week or two! Great Soul food has finally come to Joplin!
