BAD SERVICE. We ate at Cascone’s North Saturday night. I’ve had poor service, but not at what I felt has previously been a good restaurant. We were ignored, brought the wrong drinks after waiting 45 minutes for them and the list could go on. The waitress simply did not have time for us nor the interest to create time. We regretted taking friends. Doubtful that we will return.
Always great. Everytime we go the food is fantastic and the service is great. We always bring home food for lunch the next day-huge portions.16 Feb, 2015Great Italian north of the river. Always good food and the menu rotates so it never gets old.
Close to Perfect!. I am from out of town and was here in Kansas City for work. I like to look for restaurants in the area when I travel and try different places. I found Cascones and read some reviews which were, for the most part, fantastic. I can say I’ve noticed the bad ones were from last year or older and clearly they have turned things around since then because this place IS fantastic! My server was attentive but not overbearing, the Lambrusco was top notch, and I ordered the Italian Flag and although I’ve probably had better lasagna, the chicken parm and Alfredo were to die for, some of the best Alfredo I’ve ever had! Made me completely forget I received the wrong dressing on my salad than what I had asked for, which was ranch, but the house made Italian they gave me was very good. A little lady named Alice approached my table, as well as several others, to check to see how I was enjoying myself and to wish me a Merry Christmas. She was so adorable and made me feel so comfortable, and if she’s the owner kudos to you for maintaining your warm and welcoming atmosphere.I heard a gentleman at the table next to me, who was celebrating a birthday with family, say that they had been coming here for over 40 years. I can definitely see why and if I ever come to KC again I will surely return to Cascones!
Still the best Italian food in K.C.. After so many years in the same location, still serving quality food, with impeccable service. We had to wait about 15 min. Even though we had a reservation, but they were really busy on a Saturday night. I had the Italian flag, a sampler with lasagna, chicken Parmigiana, and fettuccine Alfredo. I took home more than I ate, as it also came with a nicely chilled & fresh Caesar salad. It is also always nice to have a visit from the owner checking on your happiness with your visit. You won’t find better Italian food in Kansas City. Highly Recommended!!!
Good. I have not gone here as often since they changed the Veal Parmiagiana…used to get a couple of good sized portions, enough for leftovers. Now they have cut the portion size but raised the price. I would not mind paying more if they would go back to the old way; used to be the best Veal I had ever had. The steak Modiga is still wonderful, and I always enjoy the bread, although one time the waiter brought the bread and it was almost flat from being smushed down, and he tried to tell me several times (as I kept asking for a different loaf) that is how it always is. Not a smart thing to do, but it’s funny that I have not seen him there since. I will continue to go here though because it is one of the best Italian places I have been to.
They sure know how to pick ’em!. Sunday before last my fiance and I stopped for dinner after a long afternoon, touring local wineries. We had intended to make it quick since we were tired, but that did not happen…Our server, Carol, told us she was training. We would have never guessed. She was so professional, and attentive. She even shook out my napkin and put it in my lap! Nobody has ever done that before. We were so comfortable, we ended up staying an hour and half. We had an appetizer, salad, our entrees and even split lemon cake for dessert. She made a table with her tray and boxed everything right there at the table. We had dinner for the next night right there…..but we forgot it.Most times, servers think their job is done when they get their tip. Not Carol! We were in our car, just about to drive off, when she rushes up with our leftovers:-) and she saves the day! Thank-You Carol
Ignore other reviews! Must Eat. My wife and I ate at Cascone’s during our honeymoon. We live in an area that has a few well known Italian families and restaurants so Italian food is part of our lives. At first I was extremely hesitant to book a reservation at Cascone’s due to the reviews and the fact that this was a special event. Let me tell you I am glad I did. My wife and I arrived a little before 5 and about 45 minutes before the reservation. They had us seated right away. The atmosphere was classy and comfortable. I didn’t feel like I was being crammed into a small room. The server was polite and and attentive but did not hover over us and seemed to be there right when we need or wanted somethng. The food selection was good but not overwhelming. The appetizers and the food were both amazing. I saw complaints that the marinara sauce was bland or tasted sugary but I ave no clue what these people were talking about. We both felt as if we had died and gone to heaven. The moscato wine was also very good and I was happy they had it in their selection most do not. Overall the food was the best we have ever had. The service and atmosphere were exceptional and the best I have found. The owner was kind and cared about our experience. And I thank the staff for making our honeymoon memorable.
