Not even close to authentic British food, but regardless the food in its own right was delicious. My wife had fish and chips and I had the shepherds pie. Both were scrumptious but neither were anything like the British versions. However I was delighted that the shepherds pie contained lamb as a true shepherds pie should be. The fish and chips though nice had little similarity with English fish or chips. The batter was totally different and the gorgeous savoury chips would have been eyed with disgust had they been served in the UK. I understand the owner is from London and it’s well known that southerners cannot do a decent fish and chips! Heheh. Although this sounds like a negative review it isn’t, we both loved the food, it was delicious and we will be going back again and again! My wife simply adored the home made ketchup. We both highly recommend the White Horse pub, just don’t expect authentic British tastes.
Bad food and service. A 20 minute wait for a drink and an hour wait for a greasy hamburger. All topped with unfriendly wait and bar oersonnel. They were even busy.
Tasty Food and Drink at Reasonable Prices. All too rarely does one find an affordable (for us frugal middle-class folk) restaurant where the owner and the chef take obvious care and pride in their fare, but such is the case with White Horse Pub. This evening I indulged in their exquisite bangers and mash, with a brown gravy that comes dangerously close to being addictive, while my wife thoroughly enjoyed the fish and chips, with a batter that also guaranteed future return visits. With a smoothly poured Guinness at only 5.00 a pull and Irish Ale at 4.00, we do indeed plan to return to White Horse Pub quite soon. We look forward to sampling the shepherd’s and fish pies respectively.
A great neighborhood Pub. Not a traditional old Pub with ivy growing up the sides but the atmosphere inside is comfortable. The food is great and very reasonably priced. We had bangers & mash, fish & chips, and Guinness. The service is great. Wish it was closer to home. Will definitely make a trip back.
Great Food & Service. First time tonight at White Horse Pub. Food was great, the BBQ pulled pork was delicious! Service was great as well!
A group of friends and I was eating and had a couple drinks. They ran out f what we were drinking and rushed us out. It was 8pm didn’t feel like we were welcomed. We were going to order at least 2 pitchers of beers. Took our business elsewhere. Wont be back.
Excellent food, fine brews, great value. Nice atmosphere (veddy British decor) with good traditional pub food and a wide selection of burgers (lamb, beef and turkey). Their shepherd’s pie (the real thing – made with ground lamb) is excellent and my wife went nuts over the fish pie. The Scotch Egg is very tasty as is their bangers-and-mash. The bangers are Cumberland sausage and the mashed potatoes are made in-house from scratch. Wife also loved their sticky toffee pudding for dessert. Very good selection on tap, including a couple from Boulevard Brewery as well as Guinness Stout, Bass Ale, Boddington’s Ale and Strongbow Hard Cider. Service was prompt and friendly and the owner (who is from London) stopped by our table to chat and to ask if we enjoyed our meal. Prices are very reasonable, with everything on the menu under ten dollars. We will definitely make the White Horse Pub a regular stop on our future visits to the Kansas City area.
