Place is ok. The fried chicken is pretty good but I wouldn't say it's the best in St. Louis. What gave this place a 3.0 was the side items. Everything…

Hodak’s is THE place to go for fantastic fried chicken, served with a huge side of Southern hospitality. We tried some variations of their chicken lunch dishes, and they were delicious. The servings were huge. Plus it was great to have some really friendly service staff as well. In terms of pricing, it’s pretty cheap for a sit-down restaurant. Totally going there the next time I’m in STL
My son and I arrived at Hodaks a little after 6:30 on Saturday night. We came in the wrong door, but we were directed on how to get to the hostess stand. We were seated immediately at a larger table in the middle of the restaurant. (It was actually two tables pushed together and soon after we were seated they sat another couple at the adjoining table) Our waitress Sabrina quickly came over and got our drink and appetizer order. Even though she was very busy, she had a smile on her face and was very sweet. She promptly brought our drinks and our fried ravioli appetizer came out soon after. We both decided to get the fried chicken dinner, because that is what they are known for. They did not have an option for all white meat chicken, so we just got the mixed chicken. I opted for mashed potatoes and gravy and green beans as my side. My son chose the mashed potatoes and gravy and mac and cheese. Our dinners did not take long to arrive. I believe the reason the food was coming out so quickly was everything seemed to be pre-made from a can, mix or frozen. All the food was just ok, nothing special, nothing bad. The reason I rated the restaurant a 3.5 was because of the good service. Our waitress made our meal enjoyable, with her friendly demeanor, keeping our glasses filled and clearing our plates. The prices were reasonable. We spent slightly over $25 plus tip for our meal. By the time we left at 7:30 there was a line to the door.
