Fairly standard pizzeria near Grand Center, w/both a sports bar & family hangout vibes. Walked in very late (~10:30pm) after a symphony, & the kitchen was still open, despite a thin crowd. A handful of fellow symphony-goers joined me, & there were a couple of larger lingering parties present. I sat at the bar, where the service was informal at the late hour, but adequate. Nice draught & bottled beer selection available. I ordered the antipasto salad, which was tasty but less of a pleasure than others I’ve experienced at some of StL’s finer trattorias (The Hill). The best thing about Vito’s was that real mozzarella was offered instead of that awful local provel–don’t ask & don’t order it if given the opportunity. My chosen pizza, w/ double mozzarella, was served promptly after my salad. Solid, cheesy, meaty edition of a smaller size pizza, good enough to be finished in one sitting.
Great Italian place! The service was excellent and our waiter was very friendly. We had the spaghetti with meatballs and fettuccini Alfredo dishes. Both were fantastic and we were surprised at how quickly our waiter brought them out! Also highly recommend the gelato for dessert.
