DO NOT RECOMMEND!! Charges 20% gratuity on all checks! Won’t give you a receipts after you pay. Kept the change on all cash orders in a party of 18 (teenagers going to prom) Went to get receipts for the kids who paid cash and he called the cops on us. We called the cops on him. We got back some of the receipts. Some kids paid with debit cards and was given no receipts! Server was seen 3 times in 2+ hours. Got the drinks refilled one time. Was forced to pay for something that wasn’t ordered! This site forces you to give a 1-10 rating. If I had my rathers I would rate it -11!
Everything is good here, from the Maru soup to the seaweed salad to the Lobster Dynamite roll. My personal favorite is the Basil Beef, which I have them add broccoli to. Hubby likes their Kung Pao or Pad Thai. The only downside is the price, but delicious food in a nice atmosphere.
Great food and great service, the whole family enjoys the food. A little pricey but very good. Their sushi is really good too. Not your typical cheap Chinese joint.
It’s a phenomenal setting: slightly dim lights, spacious area, and friendly servers! We ordered Pad Thai and a French Kiss roll. The roll was bigger than expected, coming with eight pieces that took up the whole plate. It was an odd combination with mangos, shrimp, and cilantro, but surprisingly good! We also received complimentary kimchi! My friend and I shared these dishes and were satisfied with the amount. We ended up spending 13.50 each with tip. Will be back again, for sure!
Absolutely outstanding! We have eaten sushi ask over the world and who knew we’d find some of the best of all in Missouri? Staff was wonderful and everything was so fresh and unique. Our new favorite restaurant in the whole area is Maru!
Terrible. We had reservations at 5:30 on a busy Friday night. We’re seated and had our order taken promptly. An hour later we were still waiting for our food while the table next to us were seated, had eaten, paid and left. Saw another customer say they were leaving after waiting an hour. Still no word from our server (he hadn’t spoken to us since taking our order) so we left without dinner. 🙁
So So. My family went to Maru on a Saturday for sushi. I read about Maru in 417 magazine and wanted to try it because it is closer to home than our usual haunts in Springfield. We tried several rolls, but were not overly impressed with any of them. There are some unusual combinations that you won’t find elsewhere. The Lobster Dynamite is not so much a roll, as a bowl of mixed items. It would have been wonderful, but the lobster was raw, and it gave the dish a strange texture. My daughter loved the Hillbilly Roll – again, this was not a typical sushi roll. It was crab and avocado wrapped in pork and deep fried. We tried several other basic rolls along with the Wasabi crusted salmon. All in all, the atmosphere was laid back and casual, the food was so-so, and the sushi was outside the ordinary. It isn’t my favorite, and I probably won’t go back, but it is probably worth a try.
