When I tried to call for a delivery order they did not understand what I was saying and my order ended up being twice the price it should have been. When I tried to confirm the order they hung up on me.
Yumtown, Population: Jason. I’ve been struggling to find a good Chinese restaurant near me since I moved to this part of The Chuck, without much luck. Finally on my last dime I started calling around seeing who would take a damn American Express, 3 places said no, I called Hunan House and they took it. Got the food delivered quick and it was awesomesauce. If you’re in this part of town you can’t do better but you can do wayyyyy worse.
Delicious Lunch!. This was my second visit to Hunan House and I was totally happy with my meal. It’s a nice little spot, just a mile or so north of I-70, with about a dozen small tables, it’s nice and clean and the owner behind the counter was very friendly.I ordered hot and sour soup and the House Special beef. The soup is a chicken based broth with bamboo shoot, mushroom, carrot, tofu and little if any meat. It was rich and tasty with a hint of pepper and vinegar, but definitely more mild than many versions of this dish I’ve had. Still, it tasted very good and I enjoyed it.The beef was a wonderful combination of tender sliced beef, broccoli, onion, water chestnut, zuchini, mushrooms and snow peas in a spicy brown sauce. The variety of ingredients gave every bite a little different character and it was delicious. I would definitely come back for more:)
This place cares about what they serve. This I find is unusual in St Charles Chinese restaurants. Only white meat chicken, carryout packed with sauce in individual container so chicken doesn’t get soggy. Good crab rangoon, good steamed rice (I know it is a basic but so many do it poorly). Large well made portions at fair price.
