I made an account just to write this review. This place had the WORST food I’ve ever had. I have no idea how it got good reviews. The miso soup tasted the salty dishwater, the edamame was clearly frozen, and the sushi was NOT fresh. The yellowtail tasted like it was about to turn and made us sick to our stomachs. On top of that, the portion size was so small that if the sushi had actually been good, we would have to pay for more food in order to be full. I felt bad since it’s a family owned place, so I paid the ridiculous $30 bill and even left a tip. Just do yourself a favor and stay away from this place. You’re better off getting sushi from a grocery store. At least it is reasonably priced.
Just Awesomee!. This is the best sushi place around Saint Charles area and it is getting better the more I go. The place is quite and relaxing. The food was speechless. The portion of the rice was just great. some places usually put too much rice. I love all their menu items. Especially their udon noodle soup and calamari. It is best to go on game nights where they have sports on their T.V.
Best Eel Sauce Ever. I really enjoy my dining experience at Little Tokyo every time. The staff is very friendly, remembering that we always start with two cucumber rolls and ask for extra ginger. The tuna (maguro) is divine; the eel sauce is soooo tasty and their rolls are unique and delicious. In St. Charles, you really can’t do better for sushi!
The Best!. I have been here several times and the chicken fried rice is the best i have ever had. Every thing on the menu is very unique and tastes very good. The best thing are the sushi rolls which include Volcano, Spicy tuna and many other types of rolls that all taste excellent. I recommend this place for everyone!
Just so-so. Their biggest flaw is that they slice their fish in advance which renders it dry and not very fresh tasting. Kind of like buffet caliber sushi.09 Dec, 2011Good, but not Great. Sushi is pretty good here, but not so special that I would go out of my way to eat here. Momoyama’s, Oishi and Crazy Sushi (in that order) have the freshest fish and by far the best sushi in the WestPlex and I would say entire STL area, but I haven’t eaten in every sushi restaurant in the entire STL area, so I can’t make that generalization. My only complaint is that many of the rolls at Little Tokyo are really small and he cuts his nigiri thinner than anywhere I’ve ever seen and shorter too (as in the fish that tops the rainbow roll barely curve over the sides of the roll). Cost cutting by shorting on the portions doesn’t encourage me to go back.
Loved It!!!!. I heard that Little Tokoyo changed owners and decided to check it out. I loved it! My husband and I started with the Shrimp Tempura appetizer which had three fried tempura shrimp and assorted fried vegetables. Loved the sauce!! I got the chicken teryaki, was pleasantly surprised. Besides the entree it came with the ginger salad, 2 Kyoza dumplings, 2 tempura shrimp, and 2 small cali rolls. It all came out delicious! My hubby ordered an assortment of rolls. He tried something called the volcano roll. Creative and a little spicy! My fav was the Little tokoyo but the love roll was also awesome. We finished off with some Dulce de leche cheesecake. Our server was friendly, knowledgeable, and gave great service! We will definitely be back! Our new sushi spot!
Great Quiet Sushi in St Charles. I was new to the St Charles area and was driving further than I needed to find good sushi. Once I found Little Tokyo – I love it. Prices are very reasonable and the sushi is phenomenal. Service is very pleasant and very small-town feel.Definitely check them out.
