‘Zza Pizza + Salad is a nice addition to the new fresher, healthier pizza places that have opened up in St. Louis. This restaurant has modern decor and a nice open feel. When you walk up to order, there is a cashier standing, iPad in hand, in front of a counter, where above the menu is displayed with all the signature items. There is an option to make your own pizza, but I couldn’t find the menu items displayed anywhere (though I may have just missed them). There is also alcohol available to go (including individual chardonnay glasses).Since this was our first time there, we decided to order a salad and a pizza to split, and it was plenty of food for the two of us. The ‘Zza’lafel salad was very fresh and the falafel was nice and crispy. It was hard to taste the chicken, so I’m not sure how necessary that was to the dish, and there was almost too much kale compared to the rest of the ingredients, but otherwise the flavor was very nice. The pizzas that they make are thin crust, but not as thin as typical St. Louis style. Ingredients on our pizza (we got the Garden City) were plentiful and well-balanced. The sauce was also very well balanced, with a slightly sweet flavor. I loved how the toppings, sauce and cheese made it almost all the way to the edge of the pizza, so there wasn’t a lot of crust by itself. This was a very flavorful pizza!I noticed that there are gluten free crusts available (I’m not sure how good they are), and there is vegan cheese available. We also read while we were there that they have an app where you can order food ahead of time and either come in to get it or they will deliver it curbside to your car. If you don’t carry out this way, then you are going to have a tough time finding parking. While there is a tiny parking lot behind the building, it was full when we got there, and it is very tough to find good street parking during the day.Overall, I would definitely go back again. I loved the fact that there were non-traditional ingredients available, and also cannot emphasize enough how fresh everything tasted.
