I’ve grown to really love Japanese steak houses. Though the ‘experience’ has gotten a little mundane and all of the ‘tricks’ are the same, often I find that the personality of the chef goes a long way in making or breaking a hibachi experience. The chef that we had at this meal was very friendly and made our experience fun. That said, the food wasn’t amazing. The ginger salad that comes out at the beginning of the meal did not taste like a true hibachi ginger dressing. It honestly tasted like Thousand Island dressing. The Miso was pretty thin, too. I ordered the hibachi steak. The steak was good but didn’t have much seasoning to it. The noodles were a little on the bland side, but not bad. The vegetables were pretty solid. I also got the fried-rice, which was good, but was also an extra $2.00.This was my first experience here and I was told by the friends that chose it that while it wasn’t as good as Nakato’s, it was cheaper so that made up for it. That is a legitimate argument for me. The problems was that after the up-charge for the rice, it wasn’t any cheaper than Nakato’s and it wasn’t nearly as good.Lastly, the place wasn’t very clean. The grill that we sat down at looked like it had quite a bit of build up around the edges of the grill, and, there was a dead bug on the table when we sat down. The service was pretty good. I didn’t ever have to ask for a refill but someone in my party did have to flag down the waitress once.Between the cost/quality ratio and the cleanliness factor, I don’t think I’ll ever go back here on my own volition. I might also normally give a place like this a 3.0 rating except for the facts that it cost as much as a far superior place and the dead bug.

I’ve had a good experience each time I’ve been there although some of the chefs are better than others. I have also noticed that the amount of food I receive is different every time. It is always good but sometimes it is better than other times. Also I guess it’s the luck of the draw who you get to sit next to.
