Where do I start!?. My husband and I and our friends wanted to try a new Mexican restaurant. El Patron had wonderful reviews. We went there for dinner on Saturday night. We were seated upstairs in a room that probably held 20 people. The ceilings are very high in these rooms and the sound travels and echos. I couldn’t even talk to my husband who was right beside me. We all four ordered something different and none of it was better than mediocre. I had the steak chimichanga and a fish taco. There was no flavor in either item. The steak was over cooked, tough and tasteless. The fish taco fell apart after the first bite. There was no sauce or seasoning what so ever. Needless to say we were very disappointed and won’t be back.
Real deal. Guacamole is amazing. Might be the best in KC. The skirt steak and shrimp I had for lunch was huge and quite a value. Perfectly seasoned. Wow! I’ll be back.
Went tonight for the first time. Had a party of 15 and got us right in. Staff very helpful and the food was excellent.I have eaten at about every mexican food restaurant and I will go back here. Very good food and good service.
Margarita madness. They serve real margarita’s. No fillers. Wow one packs a punch. No too sweet and not all ice. Each drink is hand mixed. they have spoiled me from wanting to drink them anywhere else in town. Monday they are half price all day long. Can’t wait till I go again.

Very happy to have found this…. El Patron is, top to bottom, the best Mexican food experience I have enjoyed in KC thus far. From the salsa, to the flautas, to the tacos and even on to the rice and beans. We have no yet found anything we disliked. In our never-ending search for good mexican fare I believe we struck gold. Thank you El Patron for not sucking. You make my heart happy.
Second Floor VERY NOISY, be prepared! Food good, service good.
