I’ve been twice. Both times the food has been okay and they’ve sat me directly in front of the live band. I’m all for live music, but I’d prefer not to eat 10 feet from it when I’m with friends.
I love jazz! The blackened chicken is incredibly addicting. I get mine extra spicy/extra blackened with veggies- not a succotash fan. I always make sure to order a Cajun Bloody Mary- they are so satisfying! Typing this is making me crave it right now! I would recommend this location over the legends, it’s more consistent and the cooks seem to be more experienced.
Yummmm!!! I always get excited when we decide to go here for lunch. Wonderfully flavorful food – whether you love seafood or not. Huge portions- you’ll need a box
A Kansas City Classic. Walking into Jazz never disappoints your expectations. That atmosphere always sets the mood for a quaint but fun evening, perfect for any occasion. Very rarely have I walked in and there not seen a band like the Grand Marquis playing in the background. The walls are plastered with fun things to look at, like how to eat crawfish and Louisiana license plates. Being from Kansas City, I always enjoy urban atmospheres such as this one. A touch of class mixed with just the right amount of spunk or service was phenomenal, as the young man that served is was quick to help, and incredibly helpful. If I ever have questions the servers have never hesitated to answer me with helpful tips, or even just to let me in on what their favorites are. We started off with the fried picked simply because you can’t have an experience at Jazz without them. They were served piping hot, so you know they made them after I placed my order. They had the perfect amount of crunch and flavor. My main dish was the blackened chicken fettuccine, which has always been my go to order. A dish overflowing with the perfect creamy pasta and delicious chicken that is site to please your taste buds. As far as Cajun food in Kansas City hours, Jazz by far sets the best stage for it, with their menu of blackened dishes and seafood. For dessert, I always finish off with the beignets, a powder sugar covered dough, filled with fluffy cream, and served with a delectable dipping sauce, and this would always be the perfect way to end a satisfying meal. All in all, getting these three dishes only adds up to around 20 dollars, which is not bad for a night out! Over my years of coming here I can’t recall a single item I have ever ordered off of this menu that I was not completely satisfied with. The location on 39th street has been around for forever and is a staple for Kansas Citians, and I strongly believe it is worth coming back to and keeping as a tradition for Kansas City for many more years to come.
The food is NOTHING like louisiana food. My waiter was great. The food was horrible. This food is no where near the taste of Louisiana food. The food was not seasoned at all. Spice was over powering. I am from Louisiana and i was offended that they are calling this food Louisiana food. My kids even complained about the food. The Jambalya and dirty rice was horrible, who puts tomato sauce or whateve that was inside of jambalya. i will never ever go back to this place and they are fooling their local people if they think this food taste like food from Louisiana. People dont think that because the food is spicy that it is good and that thats what Louisiana food is all about. Louisiana food has great taste and this food was not tasty at all. Also what place does not offer french fries.
Chicken Fettuccine. Idk wat it is but I can’t get enough of this dish its a very good dish gotta have it once weekly.#team jazz
So so. I just wish you could order oysters without them being fried. food was great and the service was great. The vibe isn’t very jazz like, it’s more like an American pub with cool stuff on the walls.
