Being Kansans from the sticks, we were frustrated by the whole Westport parking situation, but that aside, we have always wanted to try a traditional ramen bowl. The broth was complex and delicious, the pork was melt-in-your-mouth, and we have a new infatuation with marinated eggs. It was probably a once-in-a-lifetime bowl of goodness for us, but definitely worth it for these two hicks to broaden our culinary horizons!

I went there for a quick snack this afternoon. It seemed to be underemployed, but the speed of serving wasn’t too unacceptable. In comparison, the food took a rather long time to get ready. The gyozas were warm and thoroughly cooked, but the Wudong was below my expectation. I was surprised when they stated that they posessed no wasabi in the store. I must saythat for a place laying emphasis on the wide variety of food they offer, this place was nothing special. It was fairly priced, especially for college students who aren’t willing to spend too much on food. The bar was quite nice and drinks were of average quality. In all, this is a nice place for casual dine in.

Will not return. First time to try but we weren’t impressed. Its hard to beat Blue Koi’s dumplings or bowls of noodles. This was overpriced.

Okinomiyaki today. My wife and I finally got around to trying some okinomiyaki from zama tonight…..and ….drum roll please…..it was tasty! 🙂 I was stationed in Japan for a year or so back in ’96 and okinomiyaki was my favorite street food…..I suppose you could say I’ve eaten it a few times! In any case, I have been making my own ever since. That said, in comparison, this restaurant’s version is good but lacks the crunch of using more cabbage, and a bit wet due to all the sauce (good sauce though). I’d recommend requesting more cabbage, less sauce and see how it compares….at least that’s what I’m gonna be doing!

Great experience.. Great food, service, and environment. It’s a nice break from the burger n’ brew restaurants that can be found anywhere in KC. Perhaps pictures of the food will help bring in any timid passers-by. Definitely coming back.
