Finally! I finally found a Mexican restaurant that is good in my opinion. I am a Texan who moved here after a decade in California, so my definition of Mexican is different than a native Montanan, and after trying many of the restaurants here in Billings, I had all but given up finding a decent place to get my Mexican fix until tonight at El Corral. I ordered a combo with a ground beef taco, tamale, cheese enchilada, and a chile relleno, and it came with rice and beans. The enchilada and tamale were smothered in a chili gravy that is popular in Tex-Mex, and was excellent. The tamale was shredded beef and was pretty fat. The enchilada was just cheese, but very good, especially with the gravy. The relleno was about as good as any I’ve ever had, with lots of cheese, and while the taco was just your basic ground beef in a crunchy shell, the meat was nicely spiced and seasoned. The rice and beans were both pretty tasty too. My kids both ordered burritos, which were covered in lots of cheese and served with rice and beans, and they both enjoyed it very much. All in all it was an excellent meal and while it’s a bit of a drive for me from the Westside, it’s worth it to finally get a small taste of home. Thanks to the staff at El Corral.
