    To begin with, our family has always loved Jakes, both the downtown and West end. We went to Jakes on the west end at 3:40 on December 22. An early dinner before going to Star Wars. Overall good service from our waitress. We decided to all do appetizers. Ordered two orders of the won-tons – excellent. Then ordered the Mexican bean dip – good flavor, however the cheese was barely melted on the top and the dip was only slightly warm, ate it anyway. Ordered some tempura chicken fingers – mediocre. Then, some sliders – bread was toasted so much it was dry and very hard – had to dip into the au jus just to eat. Also, ordered some Buffalo wings. I went to grab one, right after they were served and they were completely cold (like just out of the refrigerator). I thought, oh maybe its just the sauce so I poked my finger into the meat. It was barely room temperature. Sent the wings back and left with a $90.00 bill (including drinks/tip). Very disappointed. So today, 23 December, I thought I would call the manager and give them some feedback. Not to get anything out of it, or raise a ruckus, but to help them out. I called and asked for a manager and was told that they were very busy and a manager didn’t have the time to talk to me. I said, OK, I’ll just provide my feedback online. Sorry Jake’s, you blew it on this one. Not sure we’ll be back.

    Dissapointing Dinner. Long day, was very excited for a great dinner at a steak house. When we arrived around 8 PM on a Tuesday, 3 hostesses appeared to be doing some sort of training. We were greated but told they would be with us shortly. Waited approximately 5 minutes for them to help us, even though there were no other customers waiting, as well the restaurant was fairly slow. We were seated, kept waiting for server to come and take drink orders. Started looking around before realizing that the server for that area was being chatted up by a customer. We waited approximately 10 minutes, (the whole time the customer was talking to the server) before we flagged down the hostess and asked if we could at least order drinks. I never could find a martini menu, so ordered a Stella. The hostess took our drink and appetizer orders, we received our drinks before our server even came over. This was now at least a good 15-20 minutes after being seated. Our server took our dinner ordered, but seemed very flustered and ‘not with it’ the whole time we were there. My husband ordered prime rib, me the seafood pasta, and our daughter ordered a grilled cheese. Our appetizer, soup, and salad were good. However, when we finally did get our food, our daughters food was the wrong meal so more waiting for her food to come. The prime rib was good, but I did not like the seafood pasta. I had a couple bites and did not finish it. It was extremely fishy tasting-the mussels were literally MUSH and the scallops appeared undercooked. After 3 bites I was done. Even though it was set at the side of the table the server did not acknowledge it until the end. I let her know it just didn’t taste good, felt like if I continued eating it, I would be sick. When the bill came it was still on there. When I inquired about it she went to the kitchen, and came back and let us know that the kitchen said not to worry the food would not make me sick and that they took 50% off of my meal. If the rest of my experience had been great, maybe that would have satisfied me. I am used to fine dining establishments, as well as seafood. Considering that you’re spending 20-40 per entree, I was very disappointed in the service and my entree. I will not return to this restaurant and plan to contact the manager tomorrow.
