Owner of La Tinga trained for three years with the owners of the same restaurant in Bozeman Montana. The customer service was amazing and warm with the feeling that you weren’t just money in the cash register (till). The food is prepared close to you and has that authentic flavor with homemade salsa. Dishes are affordable and worth the time to stop in for.
I moved here from California and am a Texan to boot, so I have been sorely disappointed in the Mexican food scene here in Billings these last 4 years that I’ve been here. But all of that has changed now that I have found La Tinga. The senorita running it is a real sweetheart and her food is as good as I’ve had on either side of the Southern border. Very authentic. She has typical tacos, burritos, quesadillas, etc, with the usual things to go inside, they are just prepared really well and as far as the tacos go, they are served on her homemade tortillas, which are the true mark of authenticity. She also has a daily special which I had. It was a bowl of pozole, which I have been craving, so luck was with me today, and it came with 2 tacos that had chorizo and jamon (ham), along with a fat slice of avocado on each. The pozole had chicken and pork in it and was wonderful. Spiced just enough, but still very mild and not all greasy the way it can tend to be. I can FINALLY say I’ve found a good Mexican restaurant in this town and will not only be a regular customer, but will be spreading the word, so everyone else can experience it too.
