I ordered take out tonight, so I can’t speak to the ambiance or service, but I CAN talk about how good the food is. I have not had the pleasure of visiting Thailand, but as a truck driver who has been to all 48 lower states and have eaten Thai in a great many of those states, I have to tell you that the food I had was excellent. I was at first a little disappointed by the cost of $25 for the Tom Kha Gai soup and the Massaman Curry and a Thai Iced Tea, but after tasting the food, I was a little less upset. The soup was as good as I’ve ever had, but I do need to say that there were several pieces of inedible ingredients like galangal and lemongrass, and I mean big pieces that should not have been in the final product, but this place is more like eating at grandma’s house than a chain restaurant, so there is that. Now, as for the Massaman, I have eaten it more times than I can count in a great many places all over this country and THIS ONE is in the top 5 easily. It was a little thinner than many I’ve had, but the flavor was better than almost any I’ve ever had. Just enough spice to give great flavor, but not make you sweat and or go for your drink. It had quite a bit of chicken, and two actual quarters of what was probably a Russet potato, so that was a little funny, and the raw peanut was a great little crunch, but it just tasted so good that I couldn’t stop eating it, even when I was way past full…lol! The Thai tea was really steep, so I added a bit more cream to it at home, but over all, while 25 bucks is still a bit more than I want to pay for just myself to eat, I couldn’t eat all of the rice with the curry gravy, or the soup, so it’ll be lunch tomorrow and I guess 2 meals for $25 isn’t terrible, especially given how tasty it all was. If you like Thai, give Siam Thai a go and just go with the thought of eating at someone’s house instead of a restaurant, and don’t be so hung up on speedy service, or perfect, fine dining style food, but instead that you are going for really tasty food, then you will have a great meal.
