Bar food was never this good!. Had several great meals at High Country. You can tell this food was made from scratch. The Blackened catfish po’ boy is fantastic and on the menu every day. But if you can go on Friday night, order the Fish Fry special — very good flavor, fresh and spicy. And a great deal.
The old place was better. Ate here, wasn’t impressed at all. Cajun meatloaf was dry, and it seemed like the only thing that was cajun about it was a lot o cayenne pepper. Lamb skewers were expensive, and poor quality lamb. The sideline grille was better, just gut buster junkfood. Oh well.
Fantastic!. It’s great to see Chef/Owner Chip Bales in his own restaurant making all the food we love. THe menu is varied with the greatest burgers, lamb kebobs, cajun meatloaf, real french fries, salads, an amazing turkey club made from real roasted turkey, and there are blue plate specials. We’ve eaten there about once a week since he opened. Everything is made from scratch using all fresh ingredients and you can really tell the difference. This place is inside the Rocking R Bar. It’s just really great food.
