Plonked. We stopped in Bozeman on the way up to Glacier NP and liked it so well that we decided to stop again on the way back south. Wanted to try a downtown bistro. All I wanted was a burger, but we ended up at Plonk. Okay – I’m into the small plates thing… The menu was odd – some of the small plates looked like full meals, others looked like true appetizers. I decided on the bison skirt steak with rice flan and fava beans – my husband on the prawns. Since his was a smaller plate, he also got the warm olives and tomatoes with roasted garlic and goat cheese.I had 2 malbecs and my husband had a local beer, we had those three small plates…and the total was $65. His prawns were served with a slice of cucumber, wrapped around into a bowl, with some corn and watercress. My skirt steak was tasty, but chewy (my fault, I should have known). They must have run out of fava beans, because it was served with peas and red peppers which were fine. My problem was with the rice flan. I looked on the table for a salt shaker because this particular item had exactly zero flavor. It was light, yes…it was fluffy, yes….it was absolutely without taste. All I needed was a salt shaker and that sucker would have tasted like something! A salt lick, perhaps, but SOMETHING. I had to look on the way out to see what was on the menu – because it didn’t have the texture of rice, the weight of rice, or the flavor of rice. I’ll take their word for it.The tomato cheese and olives came with 4 slices of french bread. It was tasty. However, the tomatoes squirt when you pierce them with a fork, and the olives had pits. I ate them in spite of the pits (didn’t order enough real food), and my husband picked up the tomatoes with his fingers. The bread was good, and the roasted garlic was appreciated. Not bad. I would suggest that if bread is served, the olives are pitted, and tomatoes pierced so the bread could be spread with the rest of the items and truly enjoyed. But what do *I* know? Anyhow, it was enjoyable enough, but my husband sensed my discontent and stopped for frozen yogurt on the way back to the hotel. Now THAT was excellent!

We were visiting Yellowstone each day and always got back to Bozeman around 9:30 pm or 10 pm. They’re open ’til 2 am! So we became regulars at this great place. Very friendly staff, and very knowledgeable about the wine and menu. Try the Soter North Valley (Willamette) Pinot Noir – smooth and delicious.

Ignore the low rating! If you want a fun place to dine & drink this is it! Staff is friendly food was excellent and the choices for beverages outstanding. Whoever is complaining about price is frequenting McDonalds. Atmosphere is top notch in downtown Bozeman.

Love it, great drink and good food. Wish I had more money to spend. We love this place but if you enjoy it all, the bill at the end can be high (our fault). Michale and his staff have it down. The cellar is a great place for a private dinner, totally worth the food mininum as it creates a memorable experience

Good Jazz. House wine is decent and cheese plate is very good. What especially gets me in there is the good jazz now two nights a week.
