Delicious! The menu isn’t that big but it’s made up for by the quality of what they do make! The calamari is a MUST- I’ve travelled far and wide and I have yet to come across such thick and succulent calamari. Very casual and the outdoor seating is nice. Great dinner option.

Best grill. We love this place! We live in Bozeman and drive an hour to eat here (and go antiquing) Today we had grilled veggies, not overcooked. Kabobs, burger and onion rings! The food is American grill gourmet. Gourmet as in great quality not as in fancy atmosphere. We always are here during off hours so we have not experienced bad service as other people have mentioned. 10 years and still on our top 5 Montana grill/Burger spots.

Fred’s used to be a very good restaurant. We went there about once a month. The food was always good and served hot. We went in mid- December 2013. We waited over an hour for our food, and when it came, everything was cold. When we told our server, she did bring me a replacement order of onion rings, but didn’t really seem too concerned about the situation. We tried it again in mid-January, 2014. The food was cool, but not cold. Still not hot, like it should be. We had the same server as in December. We finally went back last Saturday, hoping that they had got their act together again. We were served cold steak and chicken. Fries and onion rings were hot. Why not the steak and chicken? Same server as the other two times. They weren’t even very busy last Saturday! Three strikes, and they’re out! Never going back! And this used to be one of our most favorite restaurants in Butte!

Terrible Experience. My family and I were in town for a State Basketball tournament. After a later game we decided Fred’s was close to our hotel and we would eat there. We waited an hour to be seated and after ordering drinks to pass time we watched a very unprofessional scolding from the head chef to one of his waitresses. After finally being seated, we all agreed it would be worth the wait and tried to understand that they were moderately busy. After ordering our food we waited another 45 minutes to have our food brought out. During our 45 minute wait the waitress never bothered to ask if we wanted refills on our drinks. Once the food was placed in front of us, the presentation was extremely disappointing. My mother ordered fish with ciabatta bread. There was not a single other thing on the plate but the bread cut in half and the fish fillet. Having said that, every single one of our meals was lukewarm/cold. The cheese on my burger hadn’t even melted. After almost two hours of waiting and being extremely disappointed we have chosen to never return to Fred’s. The chef was nice enough to comp. us three meals (out of six) and the waitress was very apologetic, but she had also just been chewed out an hour prior and seemed to be over the night. Needless to say it was still extremely expensive for a dive restaurant.I have never wanted or needed to write a review on a restaurant, but this was one to write about. I would not recommend eating here to anyone.

Good food, good lunch service. Fried zucchini was amazing, ribs and steak kabobs were very good, Alfredo was okay. My only complaint is too much sauce on the pasta, and the prices were a little steep.

Don’t forget the Onion Rings!. The Onion Rings at Fred’s Mesquite Grill are a must order! They are quite tasty and are a great addition to any meal. Make sure to drunk them in some of Fred’s ranch to top them off!
