Worst restaurant experience ever!!. Went in for an early dinner. Not a soul in the restaurant. The place smelled like molds and musty maybe from the pond water?? Regardless it was not an appealing smell.i ordered spicy tuna roll and salmon cream cheese roll. The plate smelled so fishy when it was put in front of us that we were scared to eat it. The spicy tuna was just tuna in the roll and nothing else. Not even a hot sauce. The salmon cream cheese roll was just that and both rolls were room temperature. The tuna smelled on the verge so we didn’t eat it. Neither worth the money charged.i also asked for fried rice with my stir fry dish which ended up being all tempura and tasteless and I got old tasting rice. No excuse for such an unpleasant experience. What seemed like the possible owner was also my server and cooked my food too.i felt like running out the door while he was in the kitchen after I saw and smelled my sushi. Walked away feelings sick ands paying$40 only to go somewhere else two hours later to eat. I recommend going to Asian buffet before genki. Just relieved we didn’t get food poisoning because we were convinced we would both be home sick the next day.

Unpleasant Waitress/Bad Sushi. For years I’ve wanted to eat at Genki Restaurant. Yesterday I finally had enough money to take my family there, we were celebrating my bday and one of my sons! The waitress was rude and callous right at the get go! This demeanor lasted the entire visit ending with her dumping my food that I asked her to put in a ‘to-go’ container for me! When my daughter got her Spider Roll, it left so so much to be desired! We’ve eaten and prepared our own sushi for years and know what a spider roll is! When we tried to tell her it wasn’t prepared right, she argued and defended the food as if she prepared it herself!!! She, by the way, Never once, offered to bring the roll back to be replaced or done over? Another item that astounded us was the pot of hot tea that contained the 3 fills and only 2 refills that cost $5.95! I have NEVER EVER been charged for hot/green tea in the 40 yrs I have been dining in any Asian Restaurant!!! That one will be blamed on the economy I suppose? So, I don’t understand when a restaurant allows their employees to conduct themselves in such a rude, cold and ignorant (she wasn’t checking on us at all) manner?!!! She NEVER smiled ONCE!!! The bill total was what it should have been, but being the people that we are, there was no way we would pay without leaving her a tip, no matter how horrible our treatment was! I am sure I haven’t included each and every thing in the review, but I hope and pray I got my point across. We were so excited that maybe we’d found a new place to eat in Kalispell, as our trips up there are close to 200 miles round trip! I have frequented Kali for at least 35 yrs of my life/children included. We dined there about 4 p.m., and she was the only waitress working, but we were the only customers for most of the visit!
Worst rolls I’ve ever had. Unagi was freezing cold. Bad cuts of fish used. Even the hot tea wasn’t very pleasant. Server has only been over once. Will not be coming here again 🙁 big waste of money. Try sake to me in Bigfork or Wasabi in whitefish.
I give Genki Two stars based on food alone. Below average presentation and sashimi quality. If you really really want sushi go for it but there are better places to eat in Kalispell.
Surprised that kalispell had sushi!!!!! The shrimp tempura and dragon roll were awesome!!!!!!! Glad we tried it out!!!!!!!!!!!
