Outstanding Italian food here. Took three kids, and they all loved their food. Wine list is great. Service was friendly and very prompt. Almost everything on the menu was between $12-$17. The complementary bread is highly addictive. I saved my entree for last. It was the best Italian dish I’ve had outside NYC. This restaurant lets you make any substitution you want, and that’s what I did. I’ll just say: get anything with their Parmesan cream sauce. I got the pasta dish with the onions and pancetta, substituted farfalle for linguini, and then added grilled chicken. All that in the wonderful cream sauce. Nothing short of superb
Horrible Service. No amount of food quality (and the food is not very good) can save this restaurant. Arrogant staff, small and cramped seating area and they rush you in and out. It is not worth the wait to eat here. Save yourself the stress and aggravation, there are plenty of better restaurants in Whitefish whom truly appreciate your business.
Great Choice. A restaurant serving great Italian food. The food was excellent and the service was outstanding. (Thanks Kody!). The food was well prepared with excellent presentation. The waitress made a recommendation for a beer and then came back to make sure I was enjoying it. She even brought us a sample of a second dessert. Great food, outstanding service …. A definite place worth visiting.
Eat here everytime I am in town. Never been disappointed. Excellent bread, huge portions, great service. The Carbonara is the best I’ve ever had.
This place is off the hook good. Italian that is fresh, innovative, and awesome. Kid friendly too!
Excellent Culinary Experience. Ate here Aug. of 2013. Be prepared to wait if they don’t take reservations. We were told 30 minutes but in after 20. Lots of others waiting and it is worth it. Without a doubt, the most excellent Italian food we have eaten anywhere! We sat at the bar and were privey to the kitchen prep which was most entertaining. I had the eggplant and hubby had the ling. with sausage. We’d give this rest. an 11 out of 10, the food was so good. Note that there are NO gluten free pasta options which was a shame, but they do have salad options with grilled chicken & excellent grilled shrimp. Service was awesome, the quarters a bit loud when the place is full. Try it, you’ll enjoy for sure.
Need to slow down!. Ciao Mambo is one of our favorite italian restaurants anywhere. The food is quite good.. nice wine list. The bocconcici fritti is quite good, with a yummy marinara. However…this is not the place for romantics… or traditional italian eaters…from start to finish you are made to feel that they need to ‘turn’ the table and get you out of there so they can serve the next person. We’ve returned a number of times because its so good, and the atmosphere is neat, but if you want to spend some $ on a nice bottle of wine.. and ENJOY your food.. this may not be the place for you. On more than one occasion, our appetizer has been served before our wine has been poured… and on more than one occasion, our main courses have been served before we’ve had a few bites of the appetizer. This is so even when it is super busy. A friend of mine who also enjoys the food at Ciao Mambo,(but also hates the feeling like its $$$ fast food) advised that when she goes there now, she will not order an appetizer until after the wine has been served…. and will not order mains until after they’ve enjoyed the appetizer. This seems to work in slowing the machine down and allows them a chance to actually enjoy their evening. Despite the feeling that you need to get the hell out of there in 25 minutes or less…. the servers are always super friendly. And the guys in the kitchen work their asses off! We will definately return because its good food…but will try the ‘not ordering’ all at once, and see how that goes.
