The server we had was quick but was the only one covering our table of 20 The fajitas were excellent but the burrito and tamale were average. I will stick with our favorite Mexican place Trinis from now on.
Really great atmosphere! Loved the water fountain in the middle and the booths. The queso was awesome and the salsa was extremely delicious. You can tell it was homemade and was delicious.
My wife heard that this was a good place to eat. We stopped by tonight. It was a little busy. We got a table after about 5 mins. I ordered the gigante burrito and cheese dip and chips. It was great! Looked picture perfect and tasted the same. I enjoyed the salsa also it was just the right enough of spice.
For being such a popular restaurant, one would assume la Mesa has decent food, however this is not the case. As a matter of fact, I could boil some chicken and it would have more flavor than the fajita meat my family and I shared the other night. My daughter’s fajitas had mostly shrimp and she woke up in the middle of the night throwing up. The Bellevue location can accommodate a large crowd which is why we have visited the restaurant three times…all three of which have been disappointing. Save your money and don’t eat here!!
My husband have been going to la Mesa in Bellevue for 20 years. We have been going here since a time when Bellevue only had about 5 choices to eat out at and even though the restaurant scene has exploded compared to then we still continue to look forward to eating here. We do notice some subtle differences between some of the menu items since the management changed a few years back, but the basics have stayed the same. The blended strawberry margaritas are absolutely to die for and made right, strong! I used to order a combo just to get the tamale because it was so good, but since having our daughter I order the fajitas so I can split it with her. The fajitas are a bit salty, but otherwise extremely good. Our favorite is to come during happy hour, they have $2 appetizers and we belly up to the bar – order a few drinks and appetizers and share. They do a $3 margarita during happy hour as we’ll and $2 draws. It’s a good deal. The civeche is amazing, the nachos are good, guacamole is good – my only real complaint is that they changed the sals recipe a few years back and I don’t like the new one as much as the old one but it is still good. I am honestly shocked to see any bad reviews here. Good food, good atmosphere, good service and I’ve probably been there over 100 times. Amazing strawberry margs!
Being a Florida girl, I know my Mexican food. I grew up eating authentic Mexican food at friends houses and out of taco trucks. This is NOT Mexican. I would describe it as an overpriced imitation. I’ve given the place a chance 3 times. The only way I can tolerate this place is to get something smothered in queso blanco. Don’t go. Just go to Q street and get yourself some Abelardos for better quality and half the price.
Cold food. Unfriendly waiter.
