A great burger place that always finds fun new toppings for there thin style burger. This is the second best burger in Lincoln and in their new location there is more seating. The fries are a must as well. Great experience and a must if you visit Lincoln!
Quite literally the best burger in Lincoln. The flavor combinations are out of this world. Also the Parmesan truffle fries are a must. Worth the drive to find it.
Great burgers and fries. A true hole in the wall joint. A very small place located in a strip mall that you can miss if you blink your eyes. But if you go you will get some of the best burgers and fries ever. That’s all that they serve. They have about 5 different burgers on the regular menu and 4 other ones that rotate off the menu. They also have a daily special one too. I Iike spicy stuff and my favorites are the Fireside (jalapeno, bacon, siracha ketchup, pepper jack cheese, cumin lime mayo, romaine lettuce) and the Frontier Justice (chili, garlic onion cream cheese, cheddar jack cheese, jalapenos, barbecue sauce). All the burgers are 6 oz. patties with the option of ordering a second patty for a couple of dollars extra. Personally, I think that these are the perfect burgers. Not too thick or too thin. Just the right meat to bun ratio. All the ingredients are fresh and high quality. And they have a good variety of options. The parmesan truffle fries are very good and they have regular fries if that is want you want. There are very few tables and it is usually very crowded. It has been voted the best burger in Lincoln by many reviewers. I whole heartedly agree.
Overrated. Although Honest Abe’s seems to be popular with a certain demographic they are grossly overrated. Their burgers are far from the best in Lincoln alone so topping a list as best college town burger joint is a real stretch.
Honestly Great Food. Honest Abe’s is a lot like its namesake: unpretentious, but incredibly satisfying. It is worth making a detour off the routine Lincoln restaurant path to dine here. This tiny storefront burger emporium is located in an old, blink and you’ll miss it strip mall near 70th and Vine. Expect a wait for a seat almost any hour, as there are precious few tables. You order at the counter, and with any luck a table will open up before your meal is ready for eating. The menu is very simple. There are only two items: burgers and fries. Burgers come in only one size: 6 ounces. If you are a freak you can order a second patty for a couple extra dollars. Then you can fall asleep shortly after finishing your meal, or possibly before. The chalkboard menu features about a half dozen versions on the permanent burger list, and about as many more on the seasonal menu, which changes 4 times a year. Add to that mix a daily burger. Fries are a la carte, except on Abe Lincoln’s birthday, when they are free. As my luck would have it, I happened by on his birthday, which we all learned in elementary school is February 12th.I ordered the daily burger special, which featured cheddar cheese, black bean salsa and a fantastic citrus mango mayo spread. Though the burger ended up a bit overcooked, the finished product was nevertheless phenomenally tasty. And the accompanying herb seasoned fries were stunningly good, and served up in a huge portion. It was a glutton’s fantasy on a plate. There are also portabella mushroom and veggie burger options for those so inclined.Honest Abe’s has a decidedly hipster vibe. The crowd looked as if they all must have migrated over from a Starbucks.I’m sure the owners have had a steady stream of requests to expand to larger quarters, or open a second location in the Haymarket, and a third in Omaha’s Benson neighborhood, where there would absolutely be a line around the block. I understand that expansion plans are nowhere in existence, however. For the quality of their product, their eclectic, vibrant atmosphere and the cheerfulness of their employees I would rate Honest Abe’s as East Lincoln’s best restaurant.
Fabulous. While in Lincoln today, we decided to have lunch at Honest Abe’s. From the reviews, we were expecting a small place, but this is really small, We told the guy at the counter it was our first time and he was very helpful going through the menu with us. We both decided to get the Greatest Burger Ever and an order of the Parmesan truffle fries. Since it was very busy, we at first decided to get our burgers to go, but before we got our order, a table opened up, so we ate in. I really liked the vibe of the place. After a short wait, we got our order. We both enjoyed the burgers very much. It is a messy burger, but that awesome sauce is truly awesome. We really liked the thin fries with lots of parmesan! We will definitely be back when we are in Lincoln again. I’m looking forward to trying some of the more unique burgers.
I absolutely loved this place. The food was amazing and the atmosphere was great. I do wish they had more chairs though.
