Pros:- Local BBQ, good substitute for Famous Dave’sCons:- Serious waitstaff issuesOh Parker’s. We eat at Parker’s infrequently anymore and it’s not the food or prices — it’s the many times that we’ve had terribly inconsistent service. The three stars is solely for the food and the fact that it’s a longstanding local BBQ joint (good for Lincoln, but no comparison to KC or Austin ‘Que).Perfunctory food review: Pulled pork is moist, but needs sauce (recommend the gold), ribs are pull off the bone and generally nice tear/chew and nicely smoked, and the Pitmaster sandwich is several meats, which is never a bad thing, especially Memphis-style (covered in coleslaw). Steak fries (thick, crispy, crinkled, and meaty – perfect for coveting in sauce), and the cornbread muffins (fluffy, moist, lightly sweetened), are the standout sides here. Now to elaborate on the cons. The new place out on 84th is roomier than the old Bum Steer steakhouse on O Street, but the service remains pretty bad and we were reminded why we skip this place for Phat Jacks or Luckies’ (at the Airport, not Luckies’ East). The service at Parker’s is reliably so-so, and you run a 50% chance of being irritated enough that you just want to leave. With only five other tables in the restaurant, it took over ten minutes to bring (fountain) drinks, lost our plates, brought out the wrong condiments multiple times, and wrong dishes, etc., while several staff members milled around confused. As we were leaving, we hear another table arguing about being overcharged. We’ve been there many dozens of times and sometimes have good waiters, but 65% of the time, the waitstaff is pretty bad — empty glasses, forgotten silverware, forgotten or warm drinks (once brought drinks 30 minutes late), forgotten checks (multiple times of having to hunt down someone to pay after waiting around from 20-30 minutes). If they could ever work out their staffing issues, they’d be a 3.5.Bottom-line: It would be a easy local substitution for Famous Dave’s, but they need to work out their staffing issues.

The Owners DISCRIMINATE against the elderly!. You should be absolutely ashamed of yourselves asking elderly women to leave your establishment because they do not fit your target demographic! Get real, you are a BBQ restaurant, not a nightclub! This is not a good economy. I sincerely doubt that you can afford to lose the business of the entire section of the population that is over 65. From the looks of your pictures, I’d say the golden years aren’t all that far off for you either. Hopefully, the businesses that you hope to patronize treat you with more respect than you treat others. And by the way, you are really missing out, the elderly are seriously cool!

Great food! The staff was friendly and helpful. They were willing to go out of their way for me. The food prep time was shorter than other restaurants of this kind. Prices are competitive.

Love this place! Great food and amazing service! The Pit master is a must try!

Good experience. Very good bbq brisket. Service was fast and friendly, and the waitress took the time to explain each sauce that they had and to drizzle some out onto a sampler plate. Food was plentiful and filling.

Decent BBQ and large portions. Service was fantastic and the prices are just right.

Family and Fun. I am an employee for Jeff and Emily Parker. It actually hurts my feelings a little that some of you would say that the staff here has no personality. I take pride in my job and believe deeply that Jeff and Emily do as well. Everything we make at Parker’s Smokehouse is homemade except for a few sauces. We hand bread all our breaded items. Smoke our brisket and pork daily over night, and it is FRESH! Each day at 8 am and 1pm we throw Ribs, Tips, and Sausage into the smoker, again fresh. Everyday we have kitchen staff come in at 8 am to get going with our prep. I have worked in many restaurants, and this is by far THE BEST AROUND. Like Jeff said in an earlier review, if you have an issue at the restaurant, feel free to speak to a manager, because we would be more than happy to fix the problem to make it right.
