Godiva Bread Pudding. Not sure it’s always on the menu but any of their bread pudding is the best!

Just moved to Lincoln from Florida. We arrived for a late lunch on hot summer Saturday decided to sit outsideWaitress was fantastic. Had a nice bottle of champagne ( I know champagne at a Greek restaurant, but it worked). Ordered the fried calamari and the fried oysters. These both rival any high end seafood restaurant in Florida. Both excellent. Then ordered the veggie mini pizza. Also excellentWhat a pleasant surprise .. Great food and great service!!!
Pretty good food, but for service stick with Oven or Venue types. After 1 hour meal at Cinco dinner actually told they needed our table. Felt like quick service type place.
Its good yummy.
Wonderful Dinner. I stopped by the Parthenon on a Monday night. I dont eat here nearly enough, the food and service is typically top notch and George, the owner, is one of the hardest working restaurateurs in Lincoln. The place was slow when we got there, around 7:30 on a Monday night, but that’s to be expected, so early in the week. We were seated right away, and George stopped by the table to say hi, he normally does this if he knows you or not. They use a two menu system, one is left when the hostess seats you, and it has the drinks/wine/appetizers, and the other has the apps again, and meal options, and shows up when your waiter brings your drinks. This place as a ton of wine options and if you have the time I would recommend getting a bottle. I saw two of their specials on their Facebook page so I was a little ahead of the game. We ordered the Paximathia (Greek Style Bruschetta), Barcat Oysters on the half-shell, and the Dolmathes (highly seasoned rice rolled in grape leaves) for aps, and the roasted leg of lamb, with fried green tomatoes and roasted squash, and the red snapper with rice and roasted squash. The first appetizer arrived with 10 minutes, the Doimahtes, these things are GOOD, the grape leaves can be a overly bitter at times, but today’s was perfect. Next came the Barcat Oysters, normally I dont eat much shell fish in the Midwest, especially on a Monday, but George said they we wonderful, so we dove in. I’ve never had this kind of oyster, they are mildly briny and finished really clean, a very approachable oyster for people who find the taste to be a little overpowering. Lastly the Paximitha, this was a really well thought out dish. The cheese he used is firm enough to withstand grilling (he told me what kind but I forgot to write it down). It has the texture of a cheese curd, but the flavor is more rounded out, plus with the grilling makes for a wonderful taste combo with the tomatoes and basil. I dont know if he created this dish, but 5 stars for it, truly unique.Dinner arrived well after we finished out appetizers (thanks goodness I needed a break). My Leg of Lamb was well prepared, this is a fatty cut so be ready to do some cutting, but the portion compensated for the extra fat, and I had plenty of edible meat. It had a mild flavor, and was roasted to tender perfection. My roasted squash was also a tasty fall treat. The fried tomatoes showed a little late, but they were worth the wait, a crispy crust, with a thick Balsamic drizzle, at this point I was stuffed and couldn’t finish the tomatoes, and it wasn’t from a lack of trying. My friends red snapper was grilled, and he said it was among the best he has had in Lincoln, bursting with flavor. He also liked the squash, it had a nice touch with a sprinkle of Balsamic, and butter, very tasty. His rice was the Parthenon staple with tomatoes sauce and wonder flavor.Overall our meal was absolutely wonderful, the only down side is the beer. I drink Heineken, and mine was skunky. This is not a problem just at Parthenon, I find this all over town, this is the only draw back for a great meal (and a tiny one at that). If you are a beer drinker maybe stick to Bud, or possibly a seasonal that should be fresh.I think people can be a little put off by some of the flavors that Greek food uses, but George does a good job of balancing traditional with more Americanized dishes, everyone should be able to find something, he also offers a wide array of vegan and vegetarian meals. One other thing, he tries to buy everything possible from a local source. His cheese is made here, and the goat comes from a farm south of Lincoln. In these dismal economic times, finding someone who will support our local producers is a very good thing. Defiantly worth a visit, an I will be back. One last note… Maybe call ahead, as some weekends they have live entertainment, from belly dancers to small bands. If you are looking for a quiet night with someone special I would avoid this, if you are looking for a fun and different experience then check it out.
