Cancellation on Day of Reservation. We wanted to have an early dinner before going to a downtown concert later that evening, so we made reservations months in advance. The day of the event we received a phone call from the restaurant saying that they could not honor our reservation due to a wedding reception. All of the other venues in the area were booked solid and we were forced to completely change our plans. I am very disappointed with the quality of customer service that Nosh provided, as they clearly knew about the scheduling conflict well before the day of the reservations. We have enjoyed the restaurant in the past, but will not be eating there again.

Great atmosphere and high quality service. The great and unique thing here is wine flights for tasting. The Cerified Specilist of Wine (CSW) had great recommendations. The dessert menu was incredible.

Nosh. Tried to make reservations but only got the answering machine even though website said it was during business hours. Called back later and a gal answered and informed me that she hadn’t had time to check the answering machine because she was the only one working. I asked if we could get reservations. She said she would check and call me right back. I never heard from her. I don’t know how they stay open doing business this way. I will not go there again.

Relaxing. We met friends for drinks and appetizers on a Friday evening. It wasn’t particularly busy. There is a nice selection of wines by the glass and bottle, which is befitting a wine bar.Our group shared several appetizers. The one that stood out was the duck breast tacos. Four came to an order. They were rather small, about three bites apiece, but they were absolutely delicious. An Asian dipping sauce came with, which was also excellent. The interior is somewhat sleek, and comfortably attractive. Bottles of wine line one wall. An enjoyable set of background music, mostly alternative selections from the 1980s and 90s, added nicely to the overall ambiance.Service was adequate. Drink and food orders were delivered promptly. Prices are about what you would expect. What crowd there was seemed mostly in their 40s. All in all, I enjoyed my time, and will add Nosh to my list of downtown/Old Market area places worth visiting.

Buzzkill. I recently tried this place for the first time while bar hopping with some friends. We are all in our 20s and were looking for a fun night out. Needless to say, we didn’t stay at this place for too long. We popped in around 10pm hoping for a hip, fun, trendy wine bar, but got snoozeville. It was pretty obvious that the majority of the patrons were tired and travel-weary clientele from the hotel across the street. The music was soft elevator-type nursing home tunes, and it was majorly killing our buzz. While the happy hour menu pricing was nice, I don’t think we’ll be back any time soon.

Fantastic food … after we waited an hour for the server to put the order in. What a terrible time. My friend an I went into Nosh on a Tuesday evening, in the middle of dinner time (7:00). We stood at the door awkwardly for about 3 minutes waiting for a host to seat us, then the bartender (whose name I overheard was Brandon) unprofessionally waved us in – I guess it was seat yourself???? No sign. We chose a table and promptly got our menus from the manager (who mysteriously emerged from the back.) After we got our menus, however, we waited about 20 minutes for someone to come back and get our order. From observing, we found that the manager (who is also the owner – I know that much about Nosh) spent her time between the host stand (seating every 3rd person who came in. The others had to just awkwardly seat themselves like we did), the back, and waitressing one table. This table was some friends of hers we could tell – they got extra special treatment, prompt service, and she even sat down and talked with them for 15 minutes while the rest of us were wondering where the hell our service was. There was no waitress on staff, so the rest of us sat around waiting for the bartender to serve the entire rest of the restaurant. We waited about 25 minutes for a drink, 30 minutes for our appetizer, and over an hour for our food. But when everything FINALLY came together, the food was excellent! We never saw our waiter again, and the manager/owner walked by our table countless times without taking one plate. It was almost comical to watch everyone around us speaking in hushed tones about how upset they were with the service. One woman even waved her menu in the air to get the bartender’s attention! Clearly these people don’t want to do well with their business. It is completely beyond me why the manager didn’t have a single waiter scheduled for a dinner shift. Total nightmare. Won’t be returning, that’s for sure!!!

Nosh caters to women. Which us too bad. Its a great space but if you’re male they ignore you. I live on the block and am routinely disappointed in not getting service from the exclusively male bartender/beef cakes. If you think I’m overstating it notice that only women write positive reviews here and on Yelp. And they almost always comment on the male staff being ‘attentive’. Too bad, really.
