Great donuts & rolls. I have been going to Pettit’s for about 40 years and I have tried many other donut shops and none compare! Every chance I get to pickup rolls for work this is the place to go!
Not what they used to be. Pettit’s is no longer worth the effort or money. Tough, greasy doughnuts covered in grainy frosting is the new reality for what used to be the best doughnuts in town.Anyone who gives them a good review now has never had any of the places in town that continue to put forth the effort to produce a good product instead of trading on their (decades outdated) reputation. Olsen’s, Donut stop, LeMars are all much more deserving of your cash and the calories…
I was VERY disappointed when I ordered a sweet 16 birthday cake from this bakery. When I went to pick up my order. The frosting came off on a portion of the cake and I was told by bakery staff that I could just smooth it back on myself. They gave me a $5 discount. When I got home and opened up the box, the colored writing bled down the sides of the cake. I ended up returning the cake and ordering last minute somewhere else. The manager did not even know how to refund my debit card & had to give me cash back. What a joke!! I will never recommend this bakery to anyone!
Good selection even better taste.
Worth the Trip. By far, without a doubt, the best donuts in Omaha, and better than almost any I’ve found in Kansas City. The glazed raised are light and airy, have a sweet, not too sugary glaze that flakes off onto your face and fingers and shirt as you sink your teeth in. Makes me want to eat the whole dozen… The cream filled Bismarks and Long Johns are also tremendous. The white creme is light and sugary, the Bavarian cream is rich and creamy. I need to get back home and try the Crullers as I have recently become a fan of them. Until I read others’ reviews, I had no idea they made wedding cakes or other specialty items, but as far as donuts go, this is the place.Update: Just tried the crullers, one plain and one with chocolate, and they are amazing. Just as I expected.
Long John Heaven. Finally stopped by here after going to the movie theater in the area. I’d heard of Pettit’s but never been.My favorite donut is a long john. Got a box of donuts to go and hopped in the car and immediately pulled out a long john. Just had to try a bite before I got home. And holy moly, me oh my if that was not the best darn long john I’ve ever had in my life. Seriously!!! New, modern equipment could not make that donut. Only seriously seasoned, well used machinery and a top secret, out of this world cream filling recipe could make a dream donut like this.I’ve had a couple since that first one and this downtown location has not yet failed to take me to blissful, cream filled heaven.
Tasty treats, walking distance from campus. I liked walking here on the way over to the Qwest center, getting a cupcake with blue frosting, and turning my teeth blue for basketball games. The other baked good are actually quite good, even if lacking in spirited blue food coloring. the croissants are flaky, and the chocolate chip cookies are better than any matriarch’s.
