Definitely worth a try!. I would have never walked into this restaurant if my friends had not forced me. The exterior could be described as anything from plain to sketchy. The inside is a little more inviting but nothing spectacular. The reason I am a fan of this place is the $13 price tag for all you can eat appetizers, sushi, and ice cream. It’s a huge hit for me and my college friends! We usually go for a late lunch and stuff our faces to the point where we don’t even need dinner. Just a piece of advice – don’t be too over zealous when ordering because you will be charged full price for the sushi you don’t finish. Now I don’t pretend to be a sushi connoisseur so take my recommendations with a grain of salt. I usually order the egg rolls to start and then follow it with the crunchy roll and hawaii roll. I have never been disappointed! Also, be sure to get a scoop of green tea ice cream when you are done!
Good food, Not great service. I’ve been going there for a while now and they are suffering a lack in quality service. When I first started going there the wait staff was attentive and food came out as ordered, as time went on there were appetizer orders that never made it to the table. The posted close time is 10:00 and last call used to be called relatively close to that time, these days with the restaurant mostly empty they are calling for last call at 9:15 and pushing you out the door.
Value pricing for Sushi. The Sushi dinner is a great value for $20. Great variety, well executed, and tasty. Really enjoyed the kitchen items too—-dumplings and yakitori. We tried both the steamed and fried dumplings. The fried dumplings had great flavor and texture. The steamed were an enjoyable contrast. Service was top notch. Liked the modern Asian style dcor. The sushi here is high quality. The only thing you give up for the value pricing is perhaps some high end items. Highly recommended for anyone who enjoys sushi or Japanese food.
The food is good. The sushi is fresh and the presentation is fantastic. The price is more than reasonable. However, the wait is painful. My husband and I have been here an hour and a half and waited 45 minutes to get our first order…on a Sunday mid afternoon.
How much sushi can one eat?. I’ll admit I like sushi, but I don’t love it. For me, sushi is a bit like steak, there is usually a pretty good relationship between price point and quality. Thus $13 all you can eat lunch at Tokyo is very much like going to an all-you-can eat steak buffet for lunch. You get quantity, not quality. Still, not being a sushi lover, I’d rather pay the same amount for a two-roll lunch special with higher quality ingredients at other places than try to to stuff myself with 4 exceedingly average rolls just because it’s all-you-can-eat.
A Lot to Like. We liked Tokyo Sushi restaurant. Sushi lovers, and lovers of Japanese food in general, probably will, too.The big question you are probably asking is this: Does the customer sacrifice quality when dining at an All You Can Eat sushi place? The honest answer is: Yes. However…if you love good quality, good tasting, nice looking sushi rolls and other Japanese soups, salads and appetizers, but can’t afford to drop $50 or $75 for dinner, a restaurant like Tokyo Sushi can quickly become one of your favorite places to dine out.Weekday dinner prices are $19 for your run of almost all of the menu. Weekend prices are a few dollars more, but include a slightly wider selection. We started with soup and a few appetizers before taking pens to the sushi sheets. The yakitori, dumplings, egg rolls, and udon noodle soups were uniformly good. But we knew that Tokyo was going to sink or swim on the quality and variety of its sushi. Both regular rolls and the fancier hand rolls are offered in impressive varieties. I tried 5 different rolls, and liked each one. Yes, you can find flashier, and frankly tastier sushi and sashimi options across the street at Blue, or down the street at Hiro. But not for these prices! All of the rolls tasted fresh, and looked beautiful.Tokyo Sushi is itself modern and attractive in appearance. Decent pop music played softly in the background. Service was informative, and generally prompt. The drink prices are less than you might expect, which is another plus.If you want top flight sushi and other Japanese foods, and aren’t afraid of paying through the nose for the privilege, go to one of the neighbors. But if you simply want to sample the wonderful world of Japanese food without first taking out a loan, you will find much to like inside these doors.Food: B+Atmosphere: B+Service: B+Menu Variety: B+Value: A+
