I forget the name of my dish, but I think they made some departures from the listed ingredients anyway. I couldn’t taste much beyond cooked mushrooms and bamboo, and I was more hungry when I left than when I went in. I’d probably go to one of the Pho places in town, rather than return here.
The stuffed jalapeos are probably the best thing in lincoln! The flavor is out of this world and always order more than I should. It’s a casual experience but high end quality food. I’m never disappointed
As a big fan of brothy bowls of noodles, I was excited to hear a ramen place had come to Lincoln. I had been meaning to get there and give it a try, but hadn’t made the trip after hearing mixed reviews from friends and family. My super-hot boyfriend happens to like the place, so we finally made the trip to Amu Manu Ramen Bar last night. The ramen bar seems larger inside than it appears on the outside. It is very minimalistic in decor, but clean and comfortable. The server came right over, and was friendly and helpful throughout our dining experience. I ordered the cucumber lemonade to start with after reading such rave reviews. It was heavily flavored with cucumber, and in my opinion would have benefited from being watered down a little. The beverage did taste very refreshing, and I would get it again. The reviews also highly praised the dumplings, and we ordered two orders of the vegan variety. I was disappointed in the flavor and texture of the dumplings. Mine were fairly soggy and flavorless. The sauce they were served in was far too sweet for my palate. For the main course, I ordered the tan tan tofu with ramen noodles instead of the udon noodles. The waiter said that he would have suggested the same substitution. I added an egg to my bowl, and ordered a side of sambal (chili paste). My super-hot boyfriend ordered the veggie miso ramen and added the garlic to his bowl. My tan tan tofu was okay. Nothing particularly interesting to write about. I thought the broth was bland and rather sludgy, and used the entire bowl of sambal and some salt to add some flavor. The noodles were actually cooked very well, which surprised me after reading some of these reviews. I enjoyed having the egg in my bowl, and the pickled veggies cut the blandness of the broth. On the other hand, my super-hot boyfriend’s miso ramen was very tasty. The broth was flavorful and tasted like what I make at home using paste instead of powder. I thought the bowls were presented very well, and liked how the nori looked in the miso ramen. I was glad to see several vegetarian options on the menu, and though my first visit didn’t amaze me…I will be back sometime to reevaluate.
The menu is small but yummy. I’m not even sure of the name of my dish…it was the chicken in spicy poem sauce.
