Order flavor and get flavor. Like any Mexican restaurant, your La Mesa experience comes down to what you order. Try the Chile Colorado with a side of cilantro and onions. It’s my personal favorite.
Portions have decreased massively. Don’t forget you’re in the Midwest. If we’re not getting full but the prices are still being raised don’t continue to expect our undying loyalty. You had it, now look at what you’ve done with it. Goodbye 156th & Q St location & the other 4 locations who’ve gotten so much money from my family and I over the years.
Bland is a good way to describe their food. It’s not terrible, but not what I consider great Mexican food.
I am personally not a fan of this place but I go b/c my husband likes it as does one of my kids. There are so many other Mexican restaurants in town that are so much better. It baffles me how they get rated #1 each year but I tend to believe the probably have their employees voting the place up.Was there this evening and the service was crappy and most likely bc our waiter didn’t understand English very well and it was rather obvious. Another turn-off for me is the manager of this location. This gal is very abrasive and rather aloof & not friendly at all. An attitude adjustment would go a long way.
I think it’s almost unfair that I don’t like La Mesa anymore, but after Riveras I can’t help but realize how bland their food is .
Not good. I have been to La Mesa a few times because my family loves it – I just haven’t found anything there I really like. The meat is dry and all the food is very bland. Not authentic at all! I agree with other readers – there are so many great Mexican restaurants in Omaha….La Mesa is not one of them!
Go to Cantina Laredo for true gourmet tex-mex & amazing tequila list for real aficionados. La Mesa’s hype does NOT hold up… they must have paid for the marketing. Not good 🙁
