I stopped in for a weekday lunch on a Thursday in June. The restaurant is located in a shopping plaza in the northwest quadrant of the 144th & Center intersection between Romeo’s and Bag N Save. It’s in the unit where Feta’s Gyros & Catering used to be.It’s a clean attractive restaurant inside. The lady taking orders was friendly and efficient. It’s similar to many gyros restaurants. You order and pay at the counter, fill your cup at the self-serve soda fountain, and then find a table and they will bring your food to you. Like many gyros restaurants, they also do a considerable takeout business. This place serves burgers in addition to gyros. I haven’t tried the burgers. Call me crazy, but I come to a gyros place for the gyros. Although called gyros here, which is the Greek word for this Mediterranean dish, the place is actually owned and run by a Nepalese family. Most Americans tend to think of this dish as solely gyros, so it makes marketing sense to call it that.Overall, I liked everything except for the portions. Gyros meat was moist and cooked well. Onions were fresh. Pita was good. I forgo the tomatoes, so I couldn’t tell you about them. Tzatziki was good. Overall, a decent gyros. The potatoes were good, but I only got two quarters of a potato (a half of a potato for anyone struggling with that math). The portion of baklava they serve is laughably small for being $3. I have certainly received larger gyros at other restaurants and for a cheaper price too. That’s not to say you get a terrible value here, but you can get a better value for similar quality gyros at several other places around Omaha. If I’m in the area and craving gyros, then I’ll probably stop in again. I certainly prefer this place to Sam’s Gyros across the street in Oak View Mall. However, if I am seeking out some great gyros for a great price and time and travel don’t matter, then I’ll probably end up somewhere else.
